iPhone 15 CarPlay Not Working

My Apple CarPlay worked great on my iPhone 14, and does not work with the new iPhone 15 USB-c. The car only has a USB port, and I’ve tried multiple USB to USB-C cables and none work. What’s going on? It’s a 2023 Mazda CX-30

Same thing with the 2017 Honda civic and my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I’m honestly disappointed to see that Apple hasn’t addressed this yet. I love this phone but I love CarPlay more, and I might have to switch to something else if this isn’t resolved.

I have a 2021 Volvo XC 60 and just bought an iPhone 15pro max. The car only has USB A connections. I tried the UsbC to USB C supplied apple cable with a USBC to USB A adapter and I was not able to get CarPlay to work. I ordered a USB A to. USB C 3’cable from Belkin and it now works with CarPlay. I think the issue was it doesn’t like an adapter rather you should try a cable only solution.

Yes yes yes. That’s what I’ve been saying all along. Reset the Car’s AirPlay App.

FYI - I had the same issue with CarPlay not working with my new iPhone 15. I tried a few cables, no changes. I own a Chevy Impala 2018 and I got the idea to reset CarPlay in my Car’s Menu system. Since then I don’t care what cable it is, they ALL work and CarPlay works just fine. Try resetting your CarPlay in your car’s menu system.

On my 2023 Mazda CX5 CarPlay is unavailable with multiple USB A to USB C cords, even data transfer cords!!! It is inexcusable that Apple fumbles the USB C transition the way it fumbled the original Maps app. Tim Cook needs to come out with a public apology and offer to pay for additional cords that people have needed to buy. If I had known about this I wouldn't have purchased the iPhone 15. No success with a fix calling Apple Support.

2023 Mazda CX30 finally after a week and adapters, resetting everything, Apple Support said go to dealer for firmware update… after a week and researching a $5 USB A to C plugged in to car USB A worked. I am with you Apple needs to address this issue I spent roughly $50 extra on cords and adapter after the pricey purchase of the 15 Pro Max … disappointing and way to much work on top of if I would have gone to dealership another useless expensive trip I decided was incorrect advice from Apple Support

Same issue on 2020 Mazda CX-30 (previously connected to an iPhone 11). I recently upgraded to an iPhone 15 and bought a USB-C to USB 'original' adapter and a generic cord to use in the car, both off of Amazon. I know the cord worked, at least for charging my iPhone 15 in my house. And Mazda's Apple Car Play recognized the iPhone 15 and paired with it via Bluetooth, as I could play my music through the Mazda's entertainment system.

But the iPhone 15 kept connecting and disconnecting to Car Play via the wired connection.

Spoke to a guy at Mazda's service department in Tacoma. He was helpful, but couldn't really sort it out remotely. Hypothesized it might be the cord...or the adapter. So I brought the original cord I got with the iPhone down to the Mazda, plugged it in via the generic adapter and Viola...it was good times once again.

I have no idea what the difference is between Apple's OEM cord and the one I got from Amazon, but it's not a problem as I just need to charge my phone in the house (and either cord does that). But only the Apple OEM cord will let me iPhone 15 drive the Mazda navigation system via Apple Car Play.

2018 F150 and iPhone 15 Pro won’t work with SYNC when using USB but will charge with the cable. The Bluetooth pairs and will play music but I have no way to operate any of my apps but my old iPhone 8 Plus operated just fine. I was on with Apple tech support last nightfor over an hour and was told that my truck software probably needs to go to the dealer for software update? Has anyone else been told this? I’m using an Apple USBc to USB cable, not aftermarket. I’m becoming beyond frustrated and am about to send this new phone back and go with another brand.

My car which only has the cable connect option did not even acknowledge that my iphone 15 pro was connected despite connecting just fine to my old 13 pro. It would not recognize the 15 pro at all, so I tried 3 different cables with no luck. Turns out that the cable really matters. I ended up just buying a new 10Gbps, USB 3.1 Gen 2 "data" USB cable from amazon and it recognized it immediately and hasn't dropped off once since, very solid connection and high quality cable: https://a.co/d/75RaOXP

This is a serious issue that Apple needs to address. I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500 and a 2020 RAM 1500 and 90% of the time I plug in my phone and it goes to charge, if anything at all but, not Apple Car Play, then while driving it goes to a black screen on the head unit and I have to unplug the reinsert the plug. I've been using the OEM cable and I have also ordered several higher-end cables to test out to see if the cable is the issue and still, nothing.
