iPhone 15 Pro Max Back Glass Durability

Hello, I’m interested in purchasing an iPhone 15 pro max, I have seen online that this model breaks very easily (back glass breaks with minimal pressure- JerryRigsEverything video). Has anyone else experienced this?

I disagree.

In his videos, he compared it to the iPhone 14, same tests. Significant difference in durability. In fact, the 14 did not break and with more pressure.

Yes, it was deliberately destroyed, 1 test at a time… I’m unaware how else you’d test durability. However, the first test was the back glass. The rest of the tests followed, and most praised.

A LOT of other videos have emerged as well. Popular Mac forums have published articles too. Same observations, and more with the camera falling off after a decent fall. Never in the history of iPhones has this happened, under extreme falls (Off Rooftops).

Pure speculation; I believe it’s a design flaw related to the back glass now being removable, and it will probably be fixed on the iPhone 16.

OP:

If you still get the 15… you’ll probably like it. But take extra precautions. Like a lanyard 😂.

My opinion, find an iPhone 14. It will cost less, performance comparisons are negligible (see tests online), and it has superior durability.

I purchased an iPhone 15 Pro in September and the back glass broke within a week of having it and don’t even know how it did. Last month I had to have it replaced because I dropped it in antifreeze, I’m a mechanic, and the replacement phone cracked the back again I don’t even know when or how it happened. Both times it was within a week of having the phone and I use a very sturdy case with anti shock corners. Oh the second phone has not been dropped either so I have no idea why or how it cracked but I’m not happy about it. I’ve upgraded to new iPhones since I had my 3GS and this one is very fragile compared to the others.

Yup, just had this same experience! Phone is only 3 days old. Fell from the pram and the back shattered super easy! I regret not doing my research as this phone is expensive and ridiculous to replace the back! I didn’t realise it was a glass back yet again. Was under the impression it was titanium not a mix, well lesson learnt 🤦🏻‍♀️. Might be my last iPhone tbh.

Yes, this is absolutely true. My phone cracked setting it down on my side table (not hard, just in a normal way and the table is wood not a hard surface) and then cracked again through normal use. Ive done nothing different from my other phones. Had I known this, I wouldn’t have gotten this phone. Super disappointed and obviously can’t return given the cracks.

The iPhone’s recent shell designs are ******! PERIOD!!

Just like 99% the other community commentary/complaints, my phone’s glass backing cracked soon after I declined insurance, never having had this alarming disappointment with my previous five iPhones. I am using a superior cover on it, too. This new design flaw will seriously reconsider ever owning an iPhone again. What a disappointment!

Apple Inc should be ashamed!
