HomeKit automation not working after iOS 17

Hope that continues to work for you. My problem sounds similar to francois-m. iPhone set to play a radio station when a specific alarm occurs. I thought it might be interference from Standby, so turned it off. No joy. Alarm buzzes on my Apple Watch, even though it's supposed to be silent, then sits there not implementing the next step in the Automation. If I then manually trigger the shortcut, it plays the radio. I have a second automation which triggers at a specific time, changes the radio station and transfers to an Apple TV via Airplay. With the iPhone now unlocked and playing the original radio station, the second automation triggered and started playing the new radio station on the iPhone, then woke up the Apple TV, but failed to transfer the sound from the iPhone. I was able to complete the transfer manually. This is so lame!

automatic activation stopped working for me as well. automatic shut-off works. I didn't even realize which version exactly. maybe the last 17.1. very annoying, I was used to how the TV turns on the lights and so on

I have 3 x Apple TVs all running 17.1 but I am not using tvOS for my automations - only iPhone also running 17.1. So I think it's 17/17.1 whatever it's running on that's the issue. (Unless I am misunderstanding something fundamental).

Automation connected to the TV (LG C9) are not working for turning things on, but are ok for turning them off.

I’ve also noticed that TV is is not responding form the Mac, but perfectly responding on iPhone

So, my automation to Play Radio 4 (via BBC Sounds) at 05.57 every weekday should just work. And so it seems to if I remember to completely quit BBC Sounds and then relaunch it, but have it play nothing before I go to sleep. But if I leave it open but paused on my iPhone, it does not work the next morning. And if I quit the app completely but don't re-launch it, the automation triggers and launches BBC Sounds, but doesn't play. Adding a second Play to the automation after a wait of a few seconds doesn't work either. Contrary to the whole point of Apple, it doesn't "just work".

G’Day from Australia here. Lights are working for me, but not speakers after updating to latest tvOS. Apple TV is my HomeKit hub, and it use to wake up in the morning.

Anyone have any solutions?

Any Apple reps / moderators with info on any patches/updates?

Same problem but only when I have two homes set with two HomePods on different routers.

funny thing is that the sauna automations work my house automations don’t. Not sure if it has to do with iOS 17. Was using the manufacturer app before. Now I have to continue using that app because of the non working HomeKit automations.

Additionally, I’m tired of checking and resetting, settings reconfigured by iOS updates!

The last 3 updates, gave all reconfigured these settings. Why? This has been widely reported since iOS17, so why are updates still being pushed with known bugs?!

Update: After updating tvOS to 17.2 and iPhone to iOS 17.2 still no automatic trigger on to my Marantz receivers and Kef loudspeakers. Automation HomeKit for audio “on” is still broken. Before version 17.0 everything was working fine.

Similar problem. Have multiple home kit compatible plug sockets set on automation. Has been working perfectly until recent updates. Automations don’t work at all and to turn off from home app it now takes a phone hard restart and multiple tries to get anything to respond.. starting to wish I invested in a different home automation brand

I have a similar problem. Any location based automations (arrive home, leave home) and automations that are only set to run when I am home stopped working after updating to iOS 17. I have spent hours on the phone with Apple support and I am REALLY sick of deleting and recreating automations and scenes, resetting setting, etc. Sometimes recreating automations will get them working for a day or two, then they'll stop again.

I used to love my home automations, now I tell Siri to f*** off everyday when I have to announce that I am home to get the lights turned on. That's just one of the things that iOS 17 broke. I have never bean so disappointed in Apple. They have truly failed.

I was disappointed with the Home app. although I really like the whole system, but after 10 years I was disappointed for the first time and I don't trust it anymore. plus I don't understand why when I start the Home app, it often shows "loading" now, there is no instant reaction anymore. i have to wait and then i can press the lights or something. I put it on Home Assistant and also ordered Homey Pro in addition and I'm waiting for it to arrive. This will now be a choice and I will go with the universal option. No more trembling with Apple addiction. I have apple tv 2021, maybe it can't deal with the processor anymore and shows "loading"?

i’m having the same issue. New to HomeKit and it has been terrible, HomePod minis disconnect all the time, never been reliable, automations only worked one day and nothing after that. Not for turning on or off

I share your disappointment with Apple. I used to really enjoy my home automations and have invested a lot of money in devices that I can control through Homekit. Also, I tried to upvote this post, but the website just says I'm upvoting too fast. I took time to read your post and have not upvoted any other posts today, so I don't get it. Just another bug.
