iPhone 15 Pro Carplay disconnects

my new iPhone 15 pro is constantly disconnecting on apple carplay. Tried multiple usb c leads and holders and still happens. Didn’t happen with iPhone 14 pro lightning, android auto usb c. And my wife’s iPhone 15 doesn’t disconnect. Is this an isolated iPhone 15 pro issue that needs to be replaced or is this a serious iPhone 15 pro fault?

I did some more googling and found that other users that had the same issue fixed it by getting new cables and making sure that they were “data transfer” cables and not just “charging” cables. I didn’t realize there was a difference. I’ve ordered a new cable, usb to usb-c data transfer so we’ll see if that fixes it. I’ll keep you posted.

I have a 2019 RAM 1500 with wired CarPlay. Never had an issue with my older iphone connecting. I have narrowed down the problem I am having connecting to the battery charge of the 15 pro. When i get into my truck first thing in the morning when my phone is fully charged 100 % it constantly connects and disconnects to CarPlay to the point i can't use it! But when I drive home after work and my phone's charge is under 100% it connects on the first try and stays connected all the way home. Apple need to fix the bug it iOS so that it still connects at a full charge. I can never use CarPlay when my phone is fully charged.

I talked to apple support yesterday, and they recommended me to buy their lightning to usbc converter and use it with apples lightning cable. My car uses usba input.

They say it is because the cables I have tried can't handle the amount of data that is being transferred.

If their recommendations doesn't work I will get a refund.

I am not saying that this is an OK fix from Apple, but right now I just need at solution.

I will update when I know if it works.

Ok same issues here since getting the iPhone 15. I had thought it was the car! I have a Range Rover Sport SVR 2020. Wired USB-A to USB-C. This car does not support wireless CarPlay. CarPlay disconnects and reconnects randomly. Some days it is just fine. Other days not. Sometimes I can have problems, park the car for 15 minutes (iPhone remaining plugged in) and restart car and everything is fine. The strange thing is, it won't disconnect if I have the camera open on my phone.

I have been using this cable:

"[3.1A Fast Charging】: Supports safe high-speed charging 3.1A and data syncing speed up to (480Mb/s). 56kΩ resistor provide outstandingly reliable conductivity &stability and protect your devices and charging adapters from damage."

Sounds like I need to try the cable suggested in the first few posts:

I have just bought the Nissan Townstar EV van 2023, I’ve been on the phone to Apple Support who were great and tried to find out what the issue was.

i have the iPhone 15pro. The Bluetooth all works fine but when plugging in the usb - usb-c cable car play flashes up but crashes and just disappears from the screen. I managed to get it back by factory resetting the display unit in the van but again CarPlay would crash pretty quickly. I may try getting a Samsung cable as suggested by someone earlier in the comments but I do believe this must be a 15pro issue which I wish Apple would address.

So far so good with this cable and my iPhone 15 Pro (and Range Rover Sport SVR)

My only complaint with the cable is that it is very stiff. But it appears to have resolved my intermittent CarPlay disconnection issue.

(same amount of use and data as with the USB-A to lightening cable and my iPhone 13 Pro)

Been struggling for a week now. Brand new car with wired CarPlay, iPhone 15 keeps disconnecting.

ive followed all the advice, bought expensive data transfer cables, changed settings, restarted etc.

finally had some luck, I find if I plug in the phone when the infotainment system is booting up, it’ll load CarPlay.

if I try reconnecting while it’s already booted I’ll get the “does not support accessory” message on the iPhone.

Unfortunately it usually cuts out after a random amount of time, could be 5 minutes, could be 20.

my guess is it’s a software bug on the iPhones with USBC.. any further advice is appreciated.

I am having the same exact issue with my 15 pro. Cars are 09 and 11 BMWs with retrofitted MMI box that supports wired and wireless CarPlay. The wireless works just fine, but I prefer wired connection. However, the wired connection will drop after roughly 15 seconds and my car's system would prompt "CarPlay Signal Lost" error to me. I also have a 11 regular, and the CarPlay works completely fine both wired and wirelessly. I've used multiple type C cables and adapters and still no luck with 15 pro wired connection.

Cables I've tried are: USB 2.0 speed data cable (off-branded), OnePlus Fast Charge 3.0 Cable, USB 3.0 to Type C 3.0 cable (off-branded), Type C to Type C 3.0 cable + Type C to USB-A adapter (off-branded), Ankers 310 Type C to USB-A cable, 4 in 1 USB, Type C, Lightning cable (Shezi on Amazon). And all no luck. Shezi cable is a Type C to Type C cable with a USB-A adapter on one end and Lightning on the other end, the 11 would work with all the adapters plugged in (Type A to Type C - Type C to Lightning), but my 15 pro would not keep consistent signal transfer on that same cable. Both phones are running iOS17.0.3.

Wireless carplay is not a permanent solution to me. I do not use wireless CarPlay has a noticeable delay with audio and controls, I also dislike the fact that connection stays on after I turn off ignition, and will not turn off until I lock my car. It's not as much of an issue for music, but phone calls are just much nicer to transfer to earpiece the moment the cable is pulled out.

Ok I think I came up with a work-around for disconnecting randomly after working for some time....

First I noticed this never happens when using Spotify through CarPlay, but only when using Google Maps.

So my theory is the with Maps there's a period where no data is being transferred and because of this it disconnects.

So work-around is to always have something else running in the background (e.g. Podcast, Apple Music, etc).

I haven't tried this on a long trip yet but so far so good.

Also helps to keep your iPhone cool i.e. put on an AC seat if possible.

Good luck!

I recently purchased an iPhone 15 Pro Max. I started having problems with car play disconnecting on my 2023 Nissan Rogue. I tried a couple different cables with varying success. I’ve noticed if I let the radio turn on all the way and the phone is unlocked rather than the screen being off I haven’t had an issue with car play disconnecting. It may as simple as making sure everything is open and on when connecting. Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine has started to work a little bit as I was having the same issues. Go in and delete it from Bluetooth and start over as a friend told me that each time you do a new update, it will boot you out of your CarPlay. So erase your previous connection and start all over And also driving mode before you turn the car on put your phone in driving mode and plug it in and then turn the car on. These seem to help mine but it’s still not completely fixed.
