iPhone 15 Pro Carplay disconnects

my new iPhone 15 pro is constantly disconnecting on apple carplay. Tried multiple usb c leads and holders and still happens. Didn’t happen with iPhone 14 pro lightning, android auto usb c. And my wife’s iPhone 15 doesn’t disconnect. Is this an isolated iPhone 15 pro issue that needs to be replaced or is this a serious iPhone 15 pro fault?

I’m having the exact issue. From day one receiving the new iPhone 15 Pro. Previously had an iPhone 13 Pro with no issues. Tried multiple USB to C adapters.. there seems to be no rhyme or reason, but consistently disconnects from CarPlay. Contacted Apple and they didn’t seem to have any real solutions. I explained that this seems to be a very troubling safety hazard, especially if I was traveling long distance using Apple Maps very discouraged. Based on my troubleshooting, I think it’s a bug that needs attention ASAP

Ok same issues here since getting the iPhone 15. I had thought it was the car! I have a Range Rover Sport SVR 2020. Wired USB-A to USB-C. This car does not support wireless CarPlay. CarPlay disconnects and reconnects randomly. Some days it is just fine. Other days not. Sometimes I can have problems, park the car for 15 minutes (iPhone remaining plugged in) and restart car and everything is fine. The strange thing is, it won't disconnect if I have the camera open on my phone.

I have been using this cable:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HQHL6ZK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

"[3.1A Fast Charging】: Supports safe high-speed charging 3.1A and data syncing speed up to (480Mb/s). 56kΩ resistor provide outstandingly reliable conductivity &stability and protect your devices and charging adapters from damage."

Sounds like I need to try the cable suggested in the first few posts:

Ok I think I came up with a work-around for disconnecting randomly after working for some time....

First I noticed this never happens when using Spotify through CarPlay, but only when using Google Maps.

So my theory is the with Maps there's a period where no data is being transferred and because of this it disconnects.

So work-around is to always have something else running in the background (e.g. Podcast, Apple Music, etc).

I haven't tried this on a long trip yet but so far so good.

Also helps to keep your iPhone cool i.e. put on an AC seat if possible.

Good luck!

I talked to apple support yesterday, and they recommended me to buy their lightning to usbc converter and use it with apples lightning cable. My car uses usba input.

They say it is because the cables I have tried can't handle the amount of data that is being transferred.

If their recommendations doesn't work I will get a refund.

I am not saying that this is an OK fix from Apple, but right now I just need at solution.

I will update when I know if it works.

Ok, I waited about a keep to post this to make sure it worked.

details: 2019 VW Tiguan SEL with wired connection for the CarPlay with an iPhone 15 Pro.

i tried everything suggested here but nothing worked, and at the end I purchased from amazon these wires CONMDEX USB A to USB C 10Gbps (1ft, 2-Pack) USB 3.1 Gen 2 Short Data Transfer Type C Cord, Fast Charging Carplay Android Auto USB C Cable for iPhone 15/15 Plus/15 Pro/15 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S23 https://a.co/d/7smJjH2

Now finally CarPly works again

Well I spoke too soon. Today the issue began again with this same cable. As I said at the outset, it makes no sense that this is a cable issue. Cables tend to either work or not work - not work for days and then play up and then work. This is a software issue. I've even had days when it started playing up, I've then parked the car for 15 minutes without removing the phone and then restarted the car and it's been fine. There's a gremlin in Apple CarPlay and it's not the cable.

Hello Hollythelab,

If you are also able to test using a USB-C to Lightning Adapter that may help based on the details below:

You can use the USB-C to Lightning Adapter with wired CarPlay in most vehicles. However, some combinations of adapters, cables, and vehicle entertainment systems might disrupt the wired CarPlay connection. In this situation or for cars that support only wired CarPlay, use a direct connection with a USB cable.

The additional steps below may also help:

If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:
1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
• If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone under Settings > Bluetooth. Then go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on.
2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display and select it.
3. Restart your iPhone and your car.
4. Make sure that Siri is on.
5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

You can find those details and steps in this resource: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

Should that still persist, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support: Apple Support They'll be in the best position to look into this further.

Take care.

I'm having a similar problem with my new 15 Pro Max, but it happens while using Wireless CarPlay on my '23 BMW M3. When I go to listen to a text message, the message plays just fine, but then CarPlay crashes after reading the message. CarPlay also crashes if I try to respond to a text message. I'm going through support but just the usual non-helpful troubleshooting steps so far (reboot, re-add the phone, make sure you've updated to 17.2...) My old 13 Pro worked just fine.

Yeah, I’m having problems too as sometimes if I put it in driving mode before I turn the car on and plug it in it seems to work for a while. Also, there’s some settings in driving mode that have CarPlay options in them. In your drop-down menu of phone modes, there should be three little dots to the right of driving mode and the other modes, and you can go into the settings of that mode.
