iPhone 15 Pro Carplay disconnects

my new iPhone 15 pro is constantly disconnecting on apple carplay. Tried multiple usb c leads and holders and still happens. Didn’t happen with iPhone 14 pro lightning, android auto usb c. And my wife’s iPhone 15 doesn’t disconnect. Is this an isolated iPhone 15 pro issue that needs to be replaced or is this a serious iPhone 15 pro fault?

I did some more googling and found that other users that had the same issue fixed it by getting new cables and making sure that they were “data transfer” cables and not just “charging” cables. I didn’t realize there was a difference. I’ve ordered a new cable, usb to usb-c data transfer so we’ll see if that fixes it. I’ll keep you posted.

Yeah I have the same issue with tme 13 Pro. I've tried 5+ different USB-A to USB-C cables. If I look at the cable funny...wiggle it...or pick up my phone from my phone mount it immediately disconnects. Never had this issue with the 12 pro this 15 pro replaced. I feel there is some inconsistency with USB-C retention. There is too much play and the slightest movement breaks the connection to carplay.

Well I spoke too soon. Today the issue began again with this same cable. As I said at the outset, it makes no sense that this is a cable issue. Cables tend to either work or not work - not work for days and then play up and then work. This is a software issue. I've even had days when it started playing up, I've then parked the car for 15 minutes without removing the phone and then restarted the car and it's been fine. There's a gremlin in Apple CarPlay and it's not the cable.

This problem started for me when I got a new(ish) car so thought it must be the car - around the same time that I got the new iPhone 15. Now that I see so many other iPhone 15 users are having a similar issue I will stop blaming the car. It happens mainly with Spotify as that's what I listen to in the car (wired). I get it to work, then I stop the car for something and then start again and it's disconnected. So I uninstall the Spotify app and reinstall it and it works again! So infuriating! This is not good enough Apple.

I have the same issue with my I phone 15 pro max. I purchased two cars since I had the phone. At first thought it was the charging cords. Not! It is clearly the phone and apple should address the matter. Yes. The problem happened in both cars. I previously had 14 pro max. I had no problems. Apple please fix the issues! It is very annoying especially when your in the middle of a conversation and it goes to regular phone volume as if you had your phone to your ear and not through the car.

I use a 15 Plus and CarPlay worked for me no problem for a month. But today (about 2 hours ago) I updated to iOS 17.1.1 and all my USB-C cables stopped working. CarPlay keeps disconnecting every 3 seconds and the only cable that charges my phone is the original one that came in the iPhone package. I know for a fact that all of these cables work because I used them for a month with this exact phone. I am so disappointed honestly, I hope they fix it.

This is a serious issue that Apple needs to address. I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 2500 and a 2020 RAM 1500 and 90% of the time I plug in my phone and it goes to charge, if anything at all but, not Apple Car Play, then while driving it goes to a black screen on the head unit and I have to unplug the reinsert the plug. I've been using the OEM cable and I have also ordered several higher-end cables to test out to see if the cable is the issue and still, nothing.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro that I’ve been using with CarPlay in my 2020 Toyota Corolla purchased in 2022. This only really started to become an issue this year, particularly this past summer with how often my phone would overheat (even in the shade with the AC blasting). It’s worse when the battery is low and I forget to close other apps not in use but it’s particularly bad when my signal drops below 4G. I just took a road trip through the desert and CarPlay was essentially useless even when I had a signal as it would not stay connected. I was able to listen to a livestream in the middle of nowhere (thank you, T-Mobile) but CarPlay couldn’t hold a connection for longer than thirty seconds—this was both before and after the most recent update around Thanksgiving, mind you.

I assumed I just needed an upgrade but reading how many people have the same experience with the latest model has convinced me not to, and I am now deeply reconsidering continuing to invest in iPhones at all, and I have been a customer since the 4. Hopefully this gets resolved.

I'm having a similar problem with my new 15 Pro Max, but it happens while using Wireless CarPlay on my '23 BMW M3. When I go to listen to a text message, the message plays just fine, but then CarPlay crashes after reading the message. CarPlay also crashes if I try to respond to a text message. I'm going through support but just the usual non-helpful troubleshooting steps so far (reboot, re-add the phone, make sure you've updated to 17.2...) My old 13 Pro worked just fine.
