iPhone 15 Pro Carplay disconnects

my new iPhone 15 pro is constantly disconnecting on apple carplay. Tried multiple usb c leads and holders and still happens. Didn’t happen with iPhone 14 pro lightning, android auto usb c. And my wife’s iPhone 15 doesn’t disconnect. Is this an isolated iPhone 15 pro issue that needs to be replaced or is this a serious iPhone 15 pro fault?

I did some more googling and found that other users that had the same issue fixed it by getting new cables and making sure that they were “data transfer” cables and not just “charging” cables. I didn’t realize there was a difference. I’ve ordered a new cable, usb to usb-c data transfer so we’ll see if that fixes it. I’ll keep you posted.

I’m new to this community. Howdy, I’m having the same problem with my iPhone 15 pro max disconnects from either sound link or apple car play. But it only happens when I try to move the phone. I’ve cleaned everything, gave them a boot, tried multiple cords. I’m also having problems when I use Waze and Pandora simultaneously. If the map’s open and music is playing, it will keep cutting out until I switch it to Pandora. So bloody frustrating!

so, I also wonder about this community. I don’t know how this works because, I only see other users complaining about similar issues but no resolution or response from apple 🍎.

This community has all the same issues but no one from Apple actually gives a ****.. I called them and explained and they claim they’ve never heard of this issue and it must be the car, or the cord etc.. I directed them to this chat but they ignore it and me.

typical Apple, no integrity and just scoundrels the way they do business.

meanwhile, we all have faulty phone that they refuse to acknowledge or repair or replace.

Hello there, it seems like we were having the same issues. When I started using a lightning cable for data transfer and upgraded to the newest version of WebLink it seems like it’s working fine. With only one exception. If everything is on and functioning and I pick up my phone from the holder, it will disconnect. I’ve made sure that all of the connection points are clean and clear so, I have no idea…

I have to say that it is nuts if this is solved by a different cable. Typically a cable, a completely passive object, either works or doesn't work. It doesn't decide to work some days and not on others. I'm skeptical and think there's something going on in the background (firmware related). I'd be shocked if CarPlay ever needed the higher data speed. It worked fine over USB-A to Lightening and most Lightening devices (as I understand it) only support USB 2.0 with a max data rate of 480 Mbps.

No, it is not isolated. This started happening in June 2023 with my XS Max, in any car I drove. Today (1/16/2023) my phone is now an iPhone 15 barely bought it a week ago, it started to disconnect. My iPad 12.9 doesn’t disconnect and (knock on wood) my son’s phone has been ok but I’m too afraid to use my iPad. I don’t use any holder while in the car and I try to minimize changing songs. It’s annoying that I cannot use my phone to listen to music in my car without worrying that my phone will become damaged.

These phones are too expensive to be doing this and in the end we only hear “try this try that, maybe it’s the car.”

I seem to have the exact same issue, the phone seemed to work fine for a couple months. I thaught my cord went bad so I picked up a new one on the fly, a belkin one that supports data from office depot. Same issue. the phone cycles every 6-8 seconds connecting and disconnecting consistantly. Tried multiple cords and same issue. Sounds like many of you have tried contacting apple about this same issue. I just ordered one of the cords someone suggested in this forum so hopefully that works.

I have a BMW 2024 and on my iPhone 13 never had any issues with CarPlay connecting or disconnecting. Was able to voice to text and use Siri all the time and it would pop right back to my music after I ended that. Now with this new iPhone it constantly disconnects my wireless connection, and when I try wired…when I push to send a voice message or voice to text it kicks the CarPlay off of everything and then I have to wait for it to reload and allow me to voice to text. Nothing starts back on its own, super annoying!

Every time I plug my phone in it connects to car play. I have used the cable that came with my phone and I also have tried Samsung cables and other brands as well. Music play perfectly fine! Charges even!! But when I’m on a phone call? Forget it my phone started to disconnect after 20 minutes then 15 then 10 now I can hardly get through 3-4 minutes before my phone disconnects. I’m always on calls for work and to connect to family and friends. Totally distracting that I have to unplug my phone and plug it back in just to have a conversation with someone or be on a work call. I have 5 different usb/usbc ports in my car and no issues with my 12 pro max or my fiancés 15 plus.

I have tried:

  1. new cables (the ones recommended here)
  2. connecting my phone to the car BEFORE starting the car
  3. unlocking the phone first
  4. connecting when the battery is well above 50% (anywhere from 80% to fully charged)

problem STILL occurs. Only happens when on a call. Sometimes it takes 15+ minutes. Phone will drop back to a Bluetooth connection and I have to unplug cable then reconnect and CarPlay comes back. This is in a Jeep wrangler with the premium sound system.

had an iPhone 12 Pro Max until 2 weeks ago. It was flawless. Same IOS version. Upgraded to 15pro max and has been trouble since day one.

Same issue... very frustrating. I have a 2017 Ford Explorer wired... Have tried everything listed, still same result. Had a 12 pro before with no issue. Also, while traveling, I rented a 2024 Ford Expedition, wireless, - same issue, 2024 Chevy Tahoe - same issue, 2024 BMW - same issue.

I called Apple support and they are telling me it's the vehicle and to ensure the vehicle manufacture has updated the head unit. Yeah, ok. Apple needs to own this and fix the issue. Maybe instead of creating more emojis during software releases, how about fixing a real issue! This iPhone is the worst I have owned in the last 12 years! Steve Jobs would be rolling over in his grave!
