I just upgraded to Mac Sonoma 14 and now Chrome won't work.

It opens to a blank page. No bookmarks bar, no content and acts like there are spaces where I can click but nothing is visible.

Chrome has been unusable for me for about a week. Did a computer restart, which also included updating Chrome on Sonoma. Now I can do almost nothing before Chrome crashes (wheel of death). I've tried uninstall and reinstall, cleared all of the related files in the library, tried running the Chrome Beta, tried with new profiles. To me it looks like it is some kind of permissions issue i.e. as soon at Chrome tries to execute something, it hard crashes. So I can browse some websites without an issue but as soon as I try to login to Salesforce for example, it hard crashes. I'm now running Safari but Salesforce doesn't support Safari on many screens due to Safari privacy settings that can't be changed and then Chrome extensions not available on other browsers. Hate being so dependent on one browser and then is not working. Outside of a complete reinstall of my MacBook Pro M1 (which I'm not going to do) I don't know the answer.

Sonoma seems to be sandbagging my macbook, It causes it to power off when ever i closed the lid... i fixed that in energy saving settings. But now every time it "sleeps" (the lid is closed) chrome wont come back with my tabs and i need to force quite chrome and reopen it and sign in again. This all takes like a minute in a half, but doing that 2-5 times a day sucks.

Try using Chromium, which has the same features as Chrome but a slightly different build. If it doesn't work, you may consider downgrading to macOS Ventura with a bootable USB disk. Let me know the results. Another option is to use Safari, Firefox, Brave, Opera, etc. if you don't have to use Chrome. You can also trying downloading an older version of Chrome, or a new version. Good luck.

I had the same problem.

But after a while it went away.

At first, I had to hit Shift- . (period).

That seemed to work for seeing files downloaded using Chrome.

Also, do a reboot and hold down the R or the S key, to start in igognito mode. That seems to help.

But do your research, I can 't remember whether it was the R or the S key.

Hope that helps!

I just bought a new MacBook Air, updated the OS to Sonoma and it's been worse than my old Macbook 2017

I need to use google chrome to teach classe through a platform that runs on chrome and now I've been performing poorly in my classes due to that!

it's insane.

I wish I had seen this before updtading the system.

I really don't know what to do to fix this.
