MB Pro M1 Pro dead after 12.7 update
Hi.
Just updated my MacBook Pro M1 Pro from Monterey 12.6.8 to 12.7.
Either booting into Mac Os or Recovery Mode I can see the white Apple logo for a few seconds and then just a black screen.
Any idea?
Tnx.

Had the same on iMac m1. But waited patient while the screen stayed petrifyingly black, and in the end it started.
I don't like this non descriptive black screens, and inconsistent user experience. Steve Jobs r.i.p. would never have accepted this behaviour of any Mac.
I demand to apple to replace my macbook air, after updating the ios macOs 12.7 may laptop wont turn on anymore. My laptop is working fine with very good condition but right after updating. My macbook is dead. Ive tried all steps to turn on but it wont work anymore
I have the exact same issue !!!
There is now way to get the bricked MBpro M1Max into DFU mode .... any keys combination does the same: Ends in a black screen !!!
So i can not even try to revive it!!!
Same problem.
Was the power cable connected to the macbook?
Was connected.
I'm now resetting it via another mb and Apple Configurator...
🤬🤬🤬
My problem was not a matter of time and with mr. Jobs everything was all but perfect, though.
There's nothing you can do with a broken firmware therefore I'm afraid the OFFICIAL solution is reviving the machine with a fresh firmware that can only be done as described above.
How long should I be waiting for this to come back alive?
Is the MAC doing the upgrade, just with a black screen during this time?
Nope. You need technical help. A second Mac with Apple Confugurator is needed.
Sadly, the Apple Store charged to check my MBP M1 Pro was not able to revive it. They have their own OFFICIAL process and do not want to try what is described above.
Well... the best thing is let Apple do the dirty job. Be faithful.
All right. Thank you.
Nice to hear good news.
:)
Happy to read about this good news. Didn’t have doubts the Apple Store could solve your problem.
To whom may concern: I’m sure this is the cause of the problem and is not only Sonoma related.
