Since updating to iOS 17 I cannot ping my phone using my watch. I used to be able to swipe up or down (I cannot remember) on my watch and there was a phone icon I could use to ping. Now it’s gone. 😢 HELP!

It sounds like you're on watchOS 10, which has changed how Control Center is opened.
Press the side-button on your Apple Watch to open Control Center and ping your iPhone:

Put your watch back on. The feature is still there. In fact, it was never removed.

The link took me to the bottom of a page, albeit one with one of your great replies. That's what confused me. Perhaps it varies depending on how you have things sorted?
Links frequently go to the wrong place in a thread if there are images in any of the replies on that page. The current algorithm does not take the size of the image into consideration.
This still doesn't work for me. Just brings up my recently used apps. I just want to click the little icon! ;(
I still cannot find it! I ask Siri to open control centre and it takes me to my settings, but the ping iphone isn't on there ;(
