It’s not worked for months now, does anyone from Apple actually read this or are we just wasting our time?

TOTALLY AGREE... There is a partial work around; with the "Find My" app, scoll down to the other devices (past your phone) select the person's device you are looking for and the Find My Map will be displayed correctly. To get this to up date you must exit the "Mind My" app, swipe up (not minimize it). Then reload the "Find Me" app to to get an updated location (quite a pain, but better than nothing).

It’s definitely a software glitch/bug. I updated 6 iPhones (13,14,15) to iOS 17 and only the 15 experienced this “issue”. After every iOS update, the issue continued on the 15, but was still fine on the 13 and 14 models.

Now I just updated the 15 to iOS 17.4 and now the issue is gone! No other changes were made on the 15. Still very frustrating it took so many updates.. hopefully they figure it out for everyone else soon.

During a Google search, I found an article in PC Magazine that explains the "enhancements" to Find My in IOS 17. The article covers all the new ways the Find My can be used in IOS 17. It looks like Apple may have changed the way Find My works to improve privacy. IOS 17 allows you to send texts to request some one to share their location or for you to share yours. I could see how the way IOS 17 works and IOS 15 and 16 work could be at odds with each other. Here is the link to the article: https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-track-live-location-check-in-family-friends-iphone-apple#

I have not been able to try any of the methods in the article yet because I only have one device that has been upgraded to IOS 17. I will try it tomorrow with a friend who has upgraded.

I replied earlier (yesterday) to this message with a link to an article that explains all the enhancements to Find My live view in iOS 17. Today about 5:30 pm I opened Find My on my iPhone 11 with iOS 17.3.1 and lo and behold it was showing a friend who shares his location with me, updating in live view, for the first time since I upgraded. There was the green concentric circle radiating outward. When he arrived home, and the icon remained motionless for a short while, the green circle quit radiating outward, and the view switched to “Now”. I am cautiously optimistic that it will be working tomorrow morning!

p.s. it is still working with iOS 16.7 on the iPad.

The problem is different in the FindMe app than it is from the "Find Live" that you access under Messages (clicking in the user name) sent to you from someone that your following. Which will now always show "No Location Found" if the iOS version numbers differ (between 16 & 17). The FindMe app will show the correct location whenever it its restarted. If you exit out (not letting it run suppended) and restart it. FindMe live works fine between iOS 17 to 17, and iOS 15 or 16 to iOS 15 or 16, BUT not between 17 and an earlier version or from and earlier version and iOS 17.#

I do not believe this problem (with FindMe Live) has been corrected.

I have an iPhone SE second generation and upgraded to 17.4.1 last night -probably not a wise move on an old phone. Now "Find My" doesn't work with my daughter's iPhone 11, nor can I see her location in "messages" on my iPhone. I can still see my husband's location and my mother's and they have SEs. All I get for my daughter is her last location, which was before I updated. However, I can still see her current location in Messages from my MacBook Air which is running Sonoma 14.4.

APPLE SUPPORT: Any ideas why the Find My isn't working for just her phone? And how to fix this?

That is precisely the problem described here. The is no "fix" for the live tracking (between iOS 17 & earlier, but earlier to earlier still work as does 17 to 17) If you use FindMy devices, you can still locate your daughter, you may neec to restart FindMe every time you want to find the current location (it does not update as it should).

Thanks for that Tcubed, yes I've done the same thing with them, I don't believe for a second that they are not aware of the problem, I think they are just trying to wear me down. my case is 102242779911 if you want to pass that on too! I'm getting close to contacting our department of fair trading as Apple have knowingly reduced the functionality of my device with this "upgrade" and not offered me a way to return to where I was before the "upgrade"

Cheers!

Given that some of us use this for safety (for example - in South Africa, it's a safety thing to be able to share each other's location in case we get hijacked or something) it's really bad that it's not working at the moment.

Can apple at least not break things with their updates? Honestly their products just seem to get worse and worse. There are things that stopped working years ago (eg syncing books to my iPad) that I just gave up on.
