Problems with Apple Watch after updating to watchOS 10.0.1

Since updating, I've lost a bundle of functions such as waterproofing, silence, 'where is my phone', wifi on/off, battery charge. I've chatted with Apple who had no answers and the chat after an hour of going in circles dropped out. I am very unhappy with this update, it has complicated my watch and I can't revert.

has anyone else had this problem? I use to be able to click on the watchface, swipe down and there they all were. Now I just get the weather (which I already get on the face, so it's not exactly a great update but an annoying duplication.)

And I can't waterproof my watch anymore.

Any solutions? Anyone?

I'm having MAJOR issues with my Apple Watch Series 4 since updating to 10.0.1.

The worst issue I have is that the battery drains to nothing within a matter of hours. Prior to the update I NEVER HAD BATTERY ISSUES. Since the update to watchOS 10 there are nights where I go to bed with 100% power and I wake up 6-7 hours later with it either totally DEAD or dead enough where it will only show the time when pressing a button. So my sleep doesn't get logged. But sometimes under the exact same circumstances I wake up with it at 40%.

There are mornings when I leave my place and it's at 100%, and within 5 hours it's telling me it's down to 10%. Then there are rare times when it will get me 8-10 hours.

There is NOTHING enabled on my watch anymore due to these problems. I keep it on airplane mode ALWAYS. Every time I put it on the charger I put it into low power mode. I have cellular disabled and WIFI off. The volume is turned all the way down. The screen brightness is turned all the way down. And yet it KEEPS only lasting a few hours ever since this update!!!

The other MAJOR problem I am now having is the watch freezes half the time! It randomly wont respond to me touching the screen or side buttons. Even though it's ALWAYS next to my iPhone 13 Pro Max, I'd say at least 75% of the time I hold down the crown side button for a second so SIRI is listening, I then give it a voice command to remind me of something or whatever, it will show what I said on the screen, and then tell me SOMETHING IS WRONG AND IT DOESNT UNDERSTAND!

I cannot describe how FRUSTRATING all this is!!!

Back when the watch was new it was $800-$900. Plus I am paying $15/month for cellular service on it which I cannot even enable because of the new battery problem.

So am I being forced to buy a new watch now??

Because Apple won't let me downgrade the software back to when everything worked, now I am having to buy a new watch?? I think this is really MESSED UP.

Is anyone else having the same issues with their watch?

After updating my watch the digital crown keeps my volume consistently turned all the way down. I thought my microphone was muted and apple support told me I had to take it in for hardware repair. I accidentally turned the digital crown one day and I could use the phone on my watch again. I have always used settings to turn my volume up or down so didn't know this was a thing and neither did apple support obviously. Now I no longer have a snooze option for my alarm and constantly find something new that doesn't work. So frustrating.

Did you try turning the digital crown up? That's all I had to do and it turned my volume back up. Apparently I had turned it down so I couldn't hear the microphone. I thought it's purpose was to scroll up and down the screen. I never knew it was volume control. I was ready to throw my watch in the trash and discovered this by accident.

My new series 9 battery won’t charge. At all since the update. It goes up to about 20% then drains in minutes. During tech support it completely died. Then magically it charged up to 96% in minutes. And again today went from 81% to 40% in half an hour and won’t charge again and it gets VERY warm. I’ve hard reset it, paired and unpaired, and now I have to send it in for repair even though it is obviously a software problem.

My battery was impacted by the update. My battery doesn’t last longer than an hour and before the update it was lasting all day plus into the evening.

I do not doubt that you're having a problem with your battery. What has yet to be determined is why. Do yo have an app called "MobyFace" on your watch? If so, remove it. For many people, that has resolved the issue. If it doesn't, there remains the possibility that there is another third-party app causing this problem that hasn't been identified yet. Remove all third-party apps from your watch and see what happens. If the problem goes away, you can start adding the third party apps back one or two at at time. If the problem recurs, you'll be able to identify which app cause the problem.

Also, try unpairing and re-pairing the watch.

I’ve been through all troubleshooting. Unpair different chargers reset everything to factory….Even sent my watch in to Apple with warranty battery repair problem. They said couldn’t replicate issue and returned the watch after having if for less than an hour. Got back in touch with support, they’re going to replace my watch because they are concerned repairs will just keep this in a loop.

So it’s true even a warranty return will not help. I told support about this seeming issue. There are too many people having a problem after the software update.
