Problems with Apple Watch after updating to watchOS 10.0.1

Since updating, I've lost a bundle of functions such as waterproofing, silence, 'where is my phone', wifi on/off, battery charge. I've chatted with Apple who had no answers and the chat after an hour of going in circles dropped out. I am very unhappy with this update, it has complicated my watch and I can't revert.

has anyone else had this problem? I use to be able to click on the watchface, swipe down and there they all were. Now I just get the weather (which I already get on the face, so it's not exactly a great update but an annoying duplication.)

And I can't waterproof my watch anymore.

Any solutions? Anyone?

I'm having MAJOR issues with my Apple Watch Series 4 since updating to 10.0.1.

The worst issue I have is that the battery drains to nothing within a matter of hours. Prior to the update I NEVER HAD BATTERY ISSUES. Since the update to watchOS 10 there are nights where I go to bed with 100% power and I wake up 6-7 hours later with it either totally DEAD or dead enough where it will only show the time when pressing a button. So my sleep doesn't get logged. But sometimes under the exact same circumstances I wake up with it at 40%.

There are mornings when I leave my place and it's at 100%, and within 5 hours it's telling me it's down to 10%. Then there are rare times when it will get me 8-10 hours.

There is NOTHING enabled on my watch anymore due to these problems. I keep it on airplane mode ALWAYS. Every time I put it on the charger I put it into low power mode. I have cellular disabled and WIFI off. The volume is turned all the way down. The screen brightness is turned all the way down. And yet it KEEPS only lasting a few hours ever since this update!!!

The other MAJOR problem I am now having is the watch freezes half the time! It randomly wont respond to me touching the screen or side buttons. Even though it's ALWAYS next to my iPhone 13 Pro Max, I'd say at least 75% of the time I hold down the crown side button for a second so SIRI is listening, I then give it a voice command to remind me of something or whatever, it will show what I said on the screen, and then tell me SOMETHING IS WRONG AND IT DOESNT UNDERSTAND!

I cannot describe how FRUSTRATING all this is!!!

Back when the watch was new it was $800-$900. Plus I am paying $15/month for cellular service on it which I cannot even enable because of the new battery problem.

So am I being forced to buy a new watch now??

Because Apple won't let me downgrade the software back to when everything worked, now I am having to buy a new watch?? I think this is really MESSED UP.

Is anyone else having the same issues with their watch?

Thank you for this information. Condescending statements about my emotions are always so helpful. This solved all of the problems I'm encountering with the update.

When I say it's hard to learn new things when you are upset, I am not being condescending. I am giving you advice based on years of teaching adults (up into their nineties) how to use smart phones. But, I also understand you can't pour more tea into a full cup.

The issue that I wanted to get across to Apple is that they made way too many changes in an update with no warning and no help to adapt. It's overwhelming. Plus, many things are simply not working correctly and it's not right for Apple to do this to their customers. Starting your response with "OMG!!!" was clearly ridiculing my extreme frustration that I'm feeling about the update, and following it with advice on how to manage my emotions is most certainly condescending. I also teach and mentor and find that I distract people from finding a solution when I focus on their emotions instead of the issue that they are trying to resolve.

I’m having much the same problems since I updated my watch the other day ☹️ Battery dies very very quickly now where it didn’t before I updated to OS 10.10.1. It records that I have been moving all through the night, when I have been asleep in bed. It also shows I’m using loads and loads of calories while I’m asleep. This has only happened since the update. It’s absolutely awful ☹️☹️☹️ I used to charge it once a day before the update, now sometimes I have to charge it 2 or 3 times a day ☹️☹️ I don’t like having to find the apps by pressing the button under the crown…..I really wish I’d never updated.

Apparently, no developer used the Fitness app in the outdoors when the added steps were incorporated to complete a workout or walk. Can't just END the app. While it continues to tick away your time, I try desperately in the sunshine to see the "are you sure" button which is in red, invisible outdoors on a bright day. Incredible hindrance to what was a good app.

Finally read comments below and find that pushing the "long" butter under the side button gets to the Focus/Silent screen. But cannot get rid of the weather, newsbreak, health, notifications, messages, emails. I've gone into my phone to stop notifications but it's not working for me. I've turned off "mirror phone", but still get all the notifications on my phone...When I swipe up I get the "Tips on how to set up apps". How do I remove that?? Sure miss the other set up that worked well.

Completely agree with this. Having 5 screens to get all activity/ring data, step count, distance, etc. is useless. Having a single screen to view it all as a snapshot was so much better. I also think the new screens for each ring are causing excessive battery drain. I've submitted feedback to Apple, but who knows if they will ever realize what a mistake they made with this update.

That misunderstands and misstates the issue I am raising. My issue is the activity app specifically and how it now requires you to scroll through five pages to get a full snapshot instead of just one and the way those pages display chew up the battery.

My apologies for not picking up on the antecedent in a different post.

Regardless, a couple of seconds of flipping through screens is not going to have a significant effect on your battery.

This update has been negative totally. I had to reset my watch face many times as it kept losing what I had in the middle.

That question has been answered repeatedly in this thread and in others. Tap the side button, the flat oval button next to the Digital Crown and the Control Center will magically appear.

i hope they revert to the previous version

I hope to win the lottery even though I never buy tickets. I think there's a better chance of that happening.
