iPhone 15 keeps coming on and off charge

I just got my 15 and i’ve been charging it with the cable from the box and an apple usb c plug, every time it goes up by 1-2% it comes off charge then goes back on again. I’ve tried it with another usb c apple cable and has the same issue, charged it with an anker cable in my car with the same issue and I’m at a loss now of what to do!

I’ve always had the old cable issue of wiggling it to the right angle to charge but this isn’t the same thing, it can be laid flat and still go on and off charge like no tomorrow! It’s on IOS 17.0.2.

It still does charge and hold charge it’s just annoying and a bit concerning that it keeps going on and off like it is

Do you have charging optimization on in settings? If it’s set to 80% limit and your phone is close to 80% when you plug it up that may be the issue. Same may be true if you selected the Optimized Battery Charging option. Switch it to None and see if the same thing occurs. If it does then definitely take the phone to your nearest Apple Store to be evaluated (or call Apple for assistance if you don’t have a store in your area). You are still in the exchange period so you could also just opt to exchange it.

And it’s not saying you posted from your 12. That’s just the device you have on your profile.

For those still searching and trying to understand the issue it has to do with the type of cable and Power Delivery (PD). For those of us using genuine Apple Cable and Adapter this shouldn’t be an issue. 20W Adapter to be specific.

Where I notice the issue the most is when I’m using an Anker Power 240W Multi Charger (20W Port) and an Anker cable I get the on/off charging. I suspect that as it ramps up the charge it looses capacity and resets. This does not occur with an Apple Cable plugged in the same way.

Just to prove it was the cable, with that specific charger I used a 140W Apple Charger and the Anker USB-C Cable and it worked.

Which means that some cables and chargers don’t have the same power that others do. You might need to get a cable rated for 20W.

This started mine one night when charging my 15 pro max. It was connected to a third party charger that had both a usb c and a usb a plug. It has something to do with sharing the power between both ports. I disconnected the item that was charging with the usb a port and the issue stopped.

Go into notifications and turns off system haptics! I had the same issue and it worked

Update,

For some reason with another brand new 20w power adapter it doesn't behave like this. No more repeating notifications. I already tried before a new adapter exactly the same as this. Only difference between them is that one is from an Apple Premium Reseller (charger with the paper foil on it). The other one is from another electronics shop. Don’t get me wrong, both are supposed to be produced by apple. Same identical box, same inscriptions. I don’t know what’s causing this.

it doesn’t make any sense.

After charging it once with the new adapter, the old adapter was also working fine.

I suspect there is some kind of machine learning/NLP trying to learn and adapt the charging power that fails sometimes and results into these power interruptions and charging notifications.

Try a few other new chargers until

it works and blame apple.

Not sure about the brand new phone. But for the old phone if you face the issue of charging and not charging continuously, it must be because of dust in the charging hole of your phone. Use the sim tray opener to check for dirt. Once you remove it should be fine.

try the thing above, i also ended up replacing my charger plug because it started doing the same thing to my watch and had actually warped, now i have no issues at all

Yall just switch the end of the cable that goes into the port and which one goes into your phone. Just reverse the cable. Fixed it for me.

I am having the same issue on two brand new iphone 15 pro max. I tried different cables, a brand new 20W adapter. Updated to latest software, nothing works. The only way to avoid the continuous charging notification was by charging it from my laptops usb C port. It is really disappointing.

I had this issue where iphone wont charge beyond 1% and would get into boot cycle and shut down. I used a slow charger and it worked fine. Is this bug going to be resolved by Apple?

My phone is doing the same thing whether on optimization or 100% charging with various cables and diffferent plugs. It was checked out at the Apple Store genius bar and they told me this was not a problem that Apple informed them bout. Also, they didn’t fix the problem.

Apple want us to buy new adapters as when we connect old adapters iPhone AI Comes to know so it does this on and off game even if u use difrent company charger it will do on and off but not frequently to show something is wrong

just buy a new adapter all is fine

I just got my 15 plus and have been using the 20w adapter and the cable that comes in the box with the phone and I still have this issue. I tried turning off charging optimization and it’s still happening. It charges normally on my wireless charging pad as well as when plugged into the usb in my car, I’m only having the issue with the charger provided by apple in the box. Hopefully they can make a fix for this I’ve never had this kind of problem before

Try taking the plug out and putting it back in. Also check the iPhone itself just in case the plug is not plugged in properly.
