Every Timer Sound in Clock App, Set by User, is ignored by Siri in iOS 17, unlike in previous iOS Versions!

This is obviously a bug! It started with iOS 17.0.2, or maybe even 17.0? I did not have this issue in any previous iOS Versions of iOS!

These obvious instructions that I've seen on Apple Discussions do not work:

“The steps are to go to Clock App > Timer > When Timer Ends > Select Sound > Set.”

Here is my situation:

I set my usual Countdown Timer Sound

If I trigger the Timer via Siri, as I’ve done for years, before iOS 17, or maybe 17.0.2, i.e. if I say:

Hey, Siri, Timer 30 sec (or whatever duration), my choice of Sound in “When Timer Ends” is ignored, and instead I hear - “Radial (Default)” Sound!

If I start the Countdown Timer, by tapping, i.e. manually, after creating a New Timer, or re-using previous Timers, than it works, as expected, i.e. I do hear my usual  Ringtone Sound!

The obvious difference, i.e. “The Suspect”, is Siri!!!

At first I thought that maybe my own usual Ringtone Sound(s) got corrupted? So I tested my other Ringtones Sounds, and other Sounds that came with iOS 17, and also Classic Sounds from the earlier iOS Versions!

All of those Sounds were ignored again, if I triggered the Countdown Timer with Siri! But, if I triggered it manually, by tapping, to set the alarms, I would hear My Chosen Sound!

Restarting my iPhone 15 Pro Max, 512 GB, did not fix this issue!

Obviously, this is a bug!

Obviously, All Sounds, my own Ringtones, and all other Sounds that came with iOS 17, and previous versions of iOS, did not suddenly get corrupted by iOS 17.02, or maybe even iOS 17!

All those Sounds still work perfectly in Alarms Sections of that same Clock App!

I L.O.V.E. the approach in the  Alarms Sections of that same Clock App!

Every time I create a New Alarm, it uses the latest, previous Sound that I have chosen!

If I set a different Sound for some specific Alarm(s), My Chosen Sound is remembered, until I choose another sound! But the best part is that, ALL Sounds, that I have assigned for my previous Alarms, are remembered! That is how it had worked FLAWLESSLY for YEARS with Timers for me!!! Except, there were No Multiple Timers in this Clock App on iPhone , which is a Welcome New Feature, as long as the Timers can be Easily Renamed, i.e. same Labels approach as in Alarms Sections of the same Clock App!

It feels GREAT to be able to pick an Alarm Sound that “fits the occasion”! Thus, I’d L.O.V.E. to see the Sounds work the same way in Timers Section of Clock App!!!

And, here we are, in iOS 17, or at least 17.02, where many Timer Sounds are being offered, but only ONE,  “Radial (Default)” Sound, can be used, if I trigger the Timer with Siri, as I have done fore YEARS!!!

I understand that Apple tried to add Multiple Timers functionality for Timers, for example

(Hey) Siri, Timer, Boil Eggs! - 5 min

(Hey) Siri, Timer, NameOfAnotherTimer! - 10 min

and so on..

So, I tried to Save several Timers with their own Names(Labels), and trigger them that way, i.e. by Name(Label)!

RESULT:

Siri again IGNORED My Choices of Sounds, and played “Radial (Default)” Sound!

Obviously, this is a Bug!

Dear Apple, please kindly make the Timer Sounds work as flawlessly as they do in Alarms Section of the Clock App!

P.S.

A friend, who is very Apple Tech Savvy confirmed they have the same issue, and I quote:

I tested my Clock app in iOS as per your suggestion.

I have the same result as you.

After I choose my own sound and press Set, I tell Siri to do a 10 second countdown.

At the end of the countdown, Siri plays the ‘Radial’ default sound instead of the sound I chose.

So yes, it is a bug I guess.
