iPhone Keyboard Lag after iOS 17 Update

Hi!

After the iOS 17 update the keyboard typing experience is very unpleasant. I noticed the autocorrect feature is improved and available in many languages, but the keyboard has a major lag. After a sentence or two, the keys are not popping up, the prediction freezes and the text doesn't show up, even though I'm still typing. Few seconds later all the words I've been typing started to appear very fast and catch up again with my writing. I have already cleared the keyboard cache and restart the phone several times. iOS is up to date (17.0.2).

This is only one thing that's worst, there are many other aspect about the UI, but the keyboard one is the most upsetting.

I'm on iOS 17.1.2 and the issue persists

I've already tried reseting the keyboard dictionary, removing my secondary keyboard and since that didn't work, I even re installed IOS

The only thing that fixes the issue, as other persons have pointed out, is disabling predictive text and autocorrection

For me, autocorrection and predictive text is indispensable, so I installed google keyboard. It looks awful, but the typing experience is so much better

It is sad that a third party keyboard does it better than the apple one

I'm having this issue on an iphone 14 pro max running IOS 17.1.2 and the issue has been present since the first iOS 17 update

I have just switched to an iPhone 15 from a Samsung… I am not the fastest typer but on some apps the haptic feedback is like morse code and it’s quite disconcerting...

The pings speed up and slow down and come in bursts and it often feels like I am typing multiple letters when only one appears … maybe this is autocorrect doing its thing but it feels like the keyboard is lagging…

I recenty got my iphone 15 pro max and i noticed there is a lag in keyboard. While i am typing its not instantly happening. After paying this much price apple is still not able to provide the complete phone.

Worst ever from apple. They are completely lazy now

This is crazy, my keyboard is going so slow that it is actual messing up what I type, and the lag is messing with my brain. Idk what Apple is doing today, but they need to release and update by tonight that fixes this. This is a HUGE ISSUE for me.

The click keyboard is not in sync with the typing.

the holding bar to get the cursor moving is laggy.

the auto correct choose the wrong word and the wrong language .

sometimes when I fill a form , keyboard don’t show my email , only hide . .

laggy keyboard keep underline words for no reasons . Shame apple !

It really is pathetic trying to insert a word into typed text. They’ve made it virtually impossible. This is a case of too many bells and whistles that just make the whole experience cluttered and hard to use. In this case, simple really is better. I just want to type a message. Voice to text has become just a total pain, I don’t use it, it’s so bad now. A case of regression not progression in regards to that. I am out until they figure out how to do it properly.

Hi, I am having the same issue on iPhone 13, iOS 17.0.3. The keyboard lag is on every app and it is very difficult to write something coherent. Hope this issue will be solved soon.

Update for the update: nevermind resetting the dictionary. One day after it started acting just like before. This is extremely frustrating.

It didn't fix the issue with the lag when using two languages.

iOS 17.1 and the issue is still here, somehow something got better but my iPhone 14pro is lagging again

On iOS 17.1 now and the keyboard is still lagging.

capitalisation doesn’t work sometimes (see the letter “c”).

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 17.1 and it's STILL SO BAD. Typing on my phone is such a horrible and frustrating experience.
