Mac mail not loading images
I just "upgraded" to Mac OS Sonoma 14 on my MacBook Pro M1. Now the mail app version 16 is not loading images. I tried deleting and adding the mailbox, but that did not work.

I finally fixed the problem of mail not loading. The system was in lockdown mode. When I turned it off images started to appear. I don't remember turning it on. The funny thing is Safari was loading images. If you have the same problem Apple > System Settings ... > Privacy & Security scroll down to the bottom, and you'll see Lockdown Mode, turn it off.
I have experienced exactly the same.
I am trying this. I think it should fix it. As soon as I get a new message with images I will let you know.
Just received an email: did not fix it :(
I am contacting the bar and let you know. I am sick of this.
Where exactly is the "Load Remote Content in Messages" setting? I do no see it in your screengrab. Maybe I am losing it!?
Did anyone of you find a fix?
Was a fix ever found for this? I have clients sending me images and with the recent update in Sonoma - I am not able to open their attached images.
Hey Renee after spending some time on this and getting nowhere it decided to fix itself - as far as I could see its nothing obvious - file under glitch
Is there an actual fix to this rather annoying issue!
Email content doesn't load... and disappears when you reply to an email...
Grrrr
That worked for me. Thank you.
thank you - it worked but I had to enable it instead :)
Why would anyone want to disable privacy protections against being secretly tracked and profiled through email? I'd rather put up with the inconvenience of clicking a box to load the content.
No idea why that should suddenly happen, but it did, and many thanks, your solution worked like a charm.
Oh, the sweet, sweet taste of a fresh "upgrade", right? Now, in addition to the aromatic bouquet of features that Sonoma 14 brings to your digital vineyard, you have also been granted a complimentary puzzle courtesy of the Mail app. It's like the universe's way of saying, "Here’s a little extra challenge, because I know you’ve been yearning for one amidst the monotony of a bug-free existence."
Now, onto solving this thrilling enigma. First off, you might want to check if the "Load Remote Content in Messages" setting is feeling a bit shy and has toggled itself off during the upgrade. You can coax it back by navigating to Mail > Preferences > Viewing and ensuring that the box next to "Load Remote Content in Messages" is checked.
Still no cigar? Worry not. The software gods have blessed us with the ritual known as "updating to the latest version." It's a long shot but might just be the divine intervention needed to set things right.
And if the Mail app continues to play hard to get with those images, it might be time to explore the wide, wild world of third-party email applications. It's a big digital ocean out there, and many a sturdy vessel like Spark or Airmail waiting to ferry you through the tempestuous seas of email communication.
I've had an identical problem after upgrading to Sonoma on my particular MacBook Air (202 M1 chip).
After trying every suggestion on every instance of this issue that I came across, it ended up being Avast anti-virus software that was interfering with it - I updated Avast to the latest version, but that didn't help. Uninstalling from the device did however fix the problem.
So now I have images but no virus protection!
Interested to hear if this resolves anything for you.
Mine is already off. UGH!!!
