I have a 14 Pro Max and I updated to ios17 last week. Ever since the update, I don’t get text notification sounds unless I turn the banners on. Before 17, I had no alerts for texts, but I was able to hear the sound. Is there any way around this without having to have a banner, etc?

My father was having this issue and it seems to be directly connected to his Apple Watch. Turning his Apple Watch OFF or turning on a Focus mode (Do Not Disturb), the chime for a new text would 100% go through to his phone when locked. Whenever I turned the Apple Watch back on, or had no Focus mode on it, the phone would not chime for a new text, only the watch would.
Looks like something Apple will have to ultimately fix, but I hope this helps some of you in the meanwhile!
I no longer get any text sound notifications on my iPhone. I do get them on the iPad, but I don’t always have that with me. I’d rather have my iPhone text sounds notifications back.
No it didn’t not help turning watch, or iPhone off and back on.
please help resolve this issue!
