Siri not working properly after iOS 17 update

This is the best post I have red here . So true . My Siri does not recognise the names in my contacts anymore. There was no problem before the IOS 17 update. This so frustrating for me . I am seriously thinking of going Android

I have tried all the posted fixes to fix Siri and nothing works. It is hit or miss if it listens. And doesn’t hear me correctly. If I say Ami. It hears Amanda or Amelia. Now it doesn’t do anything.

So I also have this issue after just upgrading from 11Pro to an iPhone 12. No matter what I asked Siri responded “i don’t understand “ I turned of Siri completely and restarted my phone then turned Siri back on and did the 5 phrases it’s working better but still no where near how it was before I used for conversions all the time but now Siri 90% of the time just pulls up web links on simple metric measurement I want to convert

After iOS 17.2.1 my Siri stop working so I had to take my phone back in to Appel for them to rest all of my settings. I suggest in the future Appel you check on the updates to make sure nothing goes wrong with any of your devices/ features and software 

I found this thread through a search because I’ve been experiencing something similar since I updated to iOS 17 somewhere along the line on my iPhone 13 Pro.

It’s intermittent. Mostly Apple Maps AND Google Maps. Also happened asking Siri a question about the location of a family member in Find My.

Spent several hours on phone with Apple support level two. They made several changes but still not working properly. They said it was a bug in original 17 and latest update was suppose to fix it. Apparently it’s not fixed!

I've got bad news: Apple is never going to fix this; they created the problem that would ensure than you have to spend big bucks on a NEW PHONE. I took my iphone SE to Apple Store only to be told that my microphone was busted. Never mind that the microphone worked perfectly every time I added voiceover to my video. I've spent hours on the phone with Apple Support and hours more in their store. The bottom line is that I had to shell out $1000 for new phone and case. Oh, and to add insult to injury, I had to buy my own charger plug because it no longer comes with the new iPhone.

Great way to keep up that customer loyalty that Apple is so proud of!

I've tried everything over the past few months since upgrading to IOS17 and nothing worked.

Even went into the local Apple store for help.

They couldnt get it to work and suggested I restore the phone - which I did but it didnt work.

This worked like a charm!

Since the last update, I’ve had Siri is not working it comes on, but she doesn’t speak and I tell her information I need and she gives me something else all completely completely different and their times when she gives me nothing

I also tried to fix the problem by following the steps to troubleshoot but nothing happened. Siri still calls a particular person no matter whom i call. Siri also doesn't respond to a lot of commands like " create a station from this song" when i listen to apple music. After the update she responds " i dont understand"

Although i understand that siri is not fist priority it still is a nuisance not to have her !!!!!

I have an iPhone 14 and Siri will work once if I turn the phone off and on. It will however for me I used the Siri silent mode then switched back and it works for now. You know I started with the iPhone 4. And Siri is as useless now as she was then. Incapable of learning anything important. Even if you don’t get her back until the next patch what are you really missing. You should be able to teach her words and I don’t mean just funny bad words but ones that are useful. Also a button on your phone called “at work” so she doesn’t tell off your boss. Anyway this is the only way I tried and it took me 10 minutes to fix. First thing you always do before calling and searching is turn it off and back on. If that doesn’t work then there’s an issue and go right to Google and/or YouTube. Apple 🍎 you really 🤬 this one up

Iphone XS Max on IOS 17.4.1 and Siri still not working. Tried all the listed fixes, as well as others and none of them work. I did a full reset and set up the phone as if were brand new without restoring my backup and still no luck. During setup, when it asks to set up Siri and you select to do so, it just skips it to the welcome to iPhone screen and onto the home screen. When I try to setup Siri through Settings, Siri, turn on/off Siri or Hey Siri, Siri cannot hear me when asked the first question "Siri, How is the weather." The same result on both my regular backup and a factory fresh reset phone without restored backup. I have tried everything. Seems as if my microphone doesn't get activated when trying to use Siri, but works fine on everything else. It has to be a software issue and on Apples end to fix. Now to restore my backup one last time lol.

Edit: Siri working fine on my Ipad 10, IOS 17.4.1.

I am hoping Apple adds an option to disable Siri back to back. Since back to back was added in iOS 17 my hey siri has been useless in noisy environments. While Siri is doing what I originally asked it suddenly pauses and appears to be listening. Sometimes it restarts. I worked with Apple support for 2 weeks until we identified that it was background noise causing Siri to think I am issuing a back to back command do it interrupts what it is doing to listen for the rest of the back to back command. In a noisy car where hands free Siri is essential the back to back feature makes Siri useless.

as part of my support case with Apple I requested an option to disable it but months later and many iOS updates later still no relief. I am ready to roll my iPhone 12 back to iOS 16.

Siri is not working in a logical manner. It cannot distinctly find contacts. This seems to have happened right after I did the last update and also had a contacts issue where numerous contact were dropped after I merged duplicated contacts

I just tried retraining Siri for my voice, per the steps (switch off ‘listen for “hey siri”’ and switch on again)

That seems to have done the trick
