How to Turn Off Automatic Switch to Speaker on iPhone Calls

I did everything that everyone suggested. What worked for me was removing car from CarPlay, then rebooting phone. CarPlay was the issue. Just rebooting my phone didn’t help.

After adding my car back to CarPlay, phone works as expected.

I have an iPhone 13 Mini and this problem has started a few days ago. I think it might be something to do with some recent update. I have gone through this thread and tried everything suggested. The issue was resolved with a shutdown and restart.

I think Carplay connection to your phone is causing the issue. remove your car from Carplay settings on the phone. Try this solution. If not then also try to switch off Bluetooth after trying previous step.

For some reason this option was on for me but when turned off, made no difference. Turning off and back on again worked though. The classic solution strikes again!

Force restart helped resolve the issue

Settings —> Accessibility —> VoiceOver —> Audio —> Auto select speaker in calls to no

Hold the phone to your ear faster, otherwise it’ll go automatically to speaker. Or turn it off here

auto select speaker off. This is how I got it on.

I turned it off, didn’t work. Going to accessibility > touch> scroll to call audio routing > put back to auto worked . In this order.

iPhone 15. (Setting was from my 11-phone calls were super low)

Please restart once you finished Call Audio Routing to Automatic and VoicceOver Auto-select Speaker in Call Off.

Once you're there, check to make sure "Speaker" isn't selected. If it is, choose "Automatic". Test to see if calls route as expected.
