Excel for Mac 2021 treats numbers imported from web as text. Thus, one is unable to these numbers for calculations in Excel spreed sheets. I have tried all the recommended conversion processes recommended by MS or help web sites and none helped in Excel for Mac.

However there is a work around for Mac people: The Apple Numbers app. recognizes numbers imported from a web page and converts your copied text into usable numbers in any format you need (i.e. currency, dates, general) just like Excel used to.

Copy a column or row of numbers from an internet page and paste into Apple Numbers app. Make sure each number has its own cell. Then copy the created row or column into Excel. Again make sure each number is in it own cell.
