Powerbeats Pros not working with Siri for making phone calls since upgrading to iOS 17.

Let's see if I can explain this...

  • While wearing my Powerbeats Pros (PBPs), I make a phone call by saying "Hey Siri, call so-and-so, iPhone". Siri responds: "Ok, calling so-and-so, iPhone". All good so far...
  • The phone rings and I wait for the person to pick up. As soon as they pick-up, the phone switches from the PBPs to the phone speaker and I have to manually select the PBPs on the phone to continue the conversation using the PBPs.
  • This phone call issue ONLY happens when using the PBPs. It works fine when just using the phone itself or speakerphone to make calls.

This is the only area (that I know of) where I'm having a Siri/PBPs issue and all started after I updated to iOS 17.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Hello All - this issue has been fixed. I am able to use PBP to make outbound calls handsfree (with siri) again. In order to fix, you will need to update the latest firmware for your PBP version 6B27. Apple finally released an update sometime within the last couple of days. This worked for me....hope it works for you!

I am having the same issue. I have an Iphone 14 pro with brand new Power Beats Pro. When Power beats pro are connected, I press the power beats button once, ask to call someone, hear the ring, but as soon as it connects it switches to the phone speaker and I have to manually switch back to the power beats to talk to them. I never had an issue before the most recent update of iOS 17. Please help.

I have had the same issue for a while. I've twice sent my PowerBeats in to be "serviced" just for them to send it back saying they couldn't recreate the issue.

I decided to buy the airpods pro while those were being worked on to see if the issue would persist with those. They worked beautifully minus the fit. I just bought the Beats Fit Pro thinking I'll see if these will work.... nope. Same issue with those. I don't know what I can do at this point.

I am having the same problem. I asked for repair service twice, first time they checked the Powerbeats and nothing wrong was found on them. I thought the problem was solve but It was the same. I took them back to the local Apple Store, they sent them back for repair but this time they said that instead a new pair of headphones were sent back for me but still the same issue. I have to give them to my brother an android user and they were working perfectly. Then I went to the Apple Store and bought a new pair hoping the problem finally will be solve but still the same problem. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH APPLE NEW SOFTWARE UPDATE??? 👎

You’re not alone. I am having the same issue. I ask Siri to make a phone call (while wearing PBP) and the exact same issue you described above happens. I recently went to apple and they wiped my phone by doing a System Restore. This did NOT solve the issue. We unpaired my headphones, then paired a new set of PBP the rep pulled from a drawer. Same issue. My phone defaulted to Phone instead of PBP. We unpaired this new set and paired AirPods. They worked perfectly. It was determined there must be a software glitch with the new iOS 17 update. Very frustrating :(

I am having the same issue but to make matters worse my Powerbeats won't update either. I am told to take hours from my life to head to an Apple store (not very close to me at all) and "see" if they can update them for me. The issue here is caused by Apple and they need to be held accountable for the issue they cause consumers with their updates. No one at Apple will offer a replacement. Just excuses and directions to an Apple store. Who else is in this boat as I am collecting information on those affected by this to hold Apple accountable.
