Why do some of my contacts have a poster while others have their assigned photo when they call?

How can you only add a contact photo without adding it as a poster?

Same here. I have new contacts to add & it automatically defaults to the “poster feature,” I just want whatever photo I choose inserted to the circle. Ugh

this update is horrible. I have chosen hilarious contact photos for my friends … this stupid poster “feature” is just giving me a blurred screen. We need to be able to easily shut that off to enable the already set contact photo as the full screen.

I have the same problem, I choose contact card when adding a new person but it goes to poster and looks terrible. How do you fix this.

I’m with the rest- I don’t care about the poster I just want the basic photo of the person calling. I don’t put a poster behind a person when we are together for a photo but I can crop that smiling face for a quick visual of who’s calling. It’s my phone thus my call. If you want to make a poster for me that’s your decision and it’s on your phone- what do I care. This “new” feature doesn’t have an advantage unless you view everyone with a sandwich board.

how can I disable poster in contacts in ios17? Previously I was just able to have a photograph of the contact.

Have you figured out how to make this happen? That's what all I want too. My chosen photo and their name. HELP!

I also think that it should be an option. I don’t like the fact that people see a full screen picture of people that are calling me. It is a privacy issue and should be an option, not the default. Apple needs to correct this fast!

Leave our incoming call settings uo to US. The way we had it. “Expected ios17 behavior” … it’s dumb.

This is expected behavior for iOS 17. Contact Posters are set by the user and display at their discretion when either calling or being called. There is not an option on your end to change this.

I upgraded IOS 17 to my iphone. A friend sent me her contact info. When I opened I have her poster page covering the whole page. Tapping on the “ x “ did not remove/ close the page. I cannot open Contacts. I cannot make a call to anyone. I switched back to ISO 16 but that did not help. What should I do?

Every customer has the option to create their on Contact Card or Poster or leave it as it was previously. They would also need to have Name & Photo Sharing turned on: Add or edit your contact info and photo on iPhone - Apple Support

Whether you like it or not, with iOS 17 Apple created a method for users to create their own Contact Poster. If a user creates a contact poster, when they call you, you'll see the poster they chose, not what you'd like it to be.

If you don't like that, tell Apple, because saying its something you don't like here on this user to user only forum goes nowhere and gets you nothing. Feedback can be shared with Apple here --> Feedback - iPhone - Apple
