“No Voicemail” after iOS 17 Update

Hello. I have an iPhone 14 Pro. I updated to iOS 17 when it became available. I have since updated to 17.0.2. I had visual voicemail in my phone when it originally updated. Once updated, I would go to voicemail and it said “No Voicemail”. If I restart my phone, my old voicemails will reappear and sometimes I then have new voicemails. But, they then disappear again and I have to restart. But I’m missing new voicemails because of this issue and can’t respond to old ones that I’ve left in my visual voicemail. Sometimes the red notification dot shows on the voicemail button in the phone app but it’s a red dot with no number in it and when I go to voicemail, it says “No Voicemail”. This has been very disruptive. Any help on a permanent fix would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same thing right after the 17 upgrade. I turned off live voicemail, restarted and soft reset the phone. Still nothing. Called AT&T and the guy did some type of reset settings but he wasn't really sure that made a difference. Then we called the phone from another line and left a message. Boom, all the old ones from years ago showed up.

ATT doesn't have the messages older than 30 days. They are only saved on the phone. It's like they were still there on the phone but not showing. Probably turning off live voicemail, reset/restart, then leaving a message did it. Not sure if anything the ATT guy did helped, he said he just reset some settings to default, not sure what that really meant.

I have 13 mini and same issues exactly. Red dot no number. Sometimes the voicemails are there sometimes not. Doesn’t always require a hard reset or restart. Sometimes I look and they aren’t there and I’ll go back in a few minutes and they are. I’ve been missing calls for awhile but Genius Bar says my phone is perfectly fine. So frustrating.

It’s strange that the repeated answers on Apple forums are to contact the cellular carrier when the voicemail issues only began after updating to iOS 17… Clearly Apple screwed something up with that update, and it wasn’t on the carrier side. I had to disable Live Voicemail completely because otherwise my custom greeting didn’t work and I’d receive zero voicemails. Once I disabled Live Voicemail and restarted my phone, I am now getting voicemails through my carrier and am notified via text message, but my iPhone’s visual voicemail doesn’t work anymore, the voicemails don’t show up and there are no transcripts either anymore. The ONLY thing that has changed in the past week is I updated to iOS 17.
