Bluetooth issues on my iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 17.0.3

I am having issues with bluetooth dropping the connection in my car and air pods pro since I upgraded my phone to iphone 15 PM and IOS 17.0.3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. this is my main phone and I can't take the chance of having unstable IOS build on it. Any suggestions or better yet can apple just make something that works as it should for $1200 thanks!

1. Apple released the iOS 17.1.2 update, which fixed the Bluetooth issues on iPhone 15 Pro.
Update iPhone to new iOS 17.1.2
2. Unpair the iPhone from the car.
3. Remove the Bluetooth HandsFree link from your iPhone.
4. Reboot iPhone.
5. Now pair the iPhone in the car.

After several phone calls among others no solution today. Apple support recommended me after the new update to 17.1. to delete all Bluetooth connections and reset the network settings. So slowly getting tired, because any support no solution. Conclusion, I should wait until the next update, but whether the solution comes with it can tell me no one. Very disappointing this problem. Without the most important function for me with the connection to the car, the iPhone is unusable.

Same problem with my iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 17.1 Bluetooth connection in my car is constantly dropping during a call. Then if I try to switch back using the audio control on the phone app, it switches back, but there is no audio.

I was on a tech-support call with Apple for two hours today with no resolution. My work iPhone is an older model, also running iOS 17.1 and is working flawlessly connected to my car’s Bluetooth.

It is maddening! Why can’t Apple get something as simple as a Bluetooth connection in the car to work properly???

I have had to go back to 17.1.1 as the Apple engineers won’t do anything if on any other software version. Spoke to them yesterday and they are now running enhanced logging on my iPhone 15 Pro again. Still have dropped sound and static. Have sent screenshots and links to various websites and groups regarding this issue to them so hopefully now they’ll sort it out, especially as hearing aid manufacturers are also now working with them due to the complaints they have had from their own customers that have upgraded to iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models.

Hate to break this to you dude, but the problem is the hardware. Just today I returned my iPhone 15 Pro Max to Verizon and got a full refund. I’m so happy I did that! My 13 Pro Max is also running iOS 17.1.1, and the Bluetooth functionality in both cars works perfectly like it always did. So logically, it is a hardware issue or a combination of hardware and software but whatever it is it’s related to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. My iPhone 13 Pro Max works fine as it always did. Good luck!

Went to Apple Store - Genius Bar the other day & they did some diagnostic checked re Bluet connections & guess what…”no issues detected”

was advised to try next step to “reset all settings” but the same issues.

final step is to bring it back to Genius Bar so they can do “FACTORY RESET”…

seems it’s only Bluetooth issues but it’s affects EVERYTHING!!!

Having the same issues on my 15 Pro on 17.1.2. Thought it was my beats fit pro's so I reset them, turned off the phone, removed the device from the device list and repaired. Still had the same issue. In the same location tried my wife's airpods with my phone and same issue. They randomly will cut out or have staticky performance. This just started 2-3 weeks ago. On the other hand I have zero issues in the car. Very odd.

Just noticed there is an update for 17.2 so running that update now to see if it addresses the issue. Did not see anything in the release notes saying that it is addressed but worth a shot. Can only get worse haha

Update after 17.2: Had it randomly cut out and reconnect in the middle of a phone call. So doesn't look to have addressed the issue :(

I’ve been having this issue since I got my iPhone 15 pro back in September. It doesn’t seem to have issues with my watch but it’s like 50/50 if it will pair with my AirPods correctly. Right now I’m stuck in the gym with music only on my left bud since my right one just won’t connect. The only thing that seems to fix it is by putting my phones in the case and then taking them out.

i know it’s the phone because I do not have this issue at all with my iPad. Really frustrating because I switched due to having a bunch of issues with my android phone and google buds but this is significantly worse.

Well, I guess you were lucky.

I've done all this and more.

I've even been to the car dealership and they have replaced the head unit in my car under warranty in an attempt to fix this. No change.

FWIW it's worth to help others:

iPhone 15 Pro

iOS 17.2.1 (current)

2013 Porsche Cayenne with standard PCM (head unit) - car still under extended factory warranty! Which has been replaced by dealership.

I have tried every reset, disconnect, erase, rain dance and voodoo doll I can find and get momentary improvement.

I believe it's a bad hardware component batch as not everyone is having this issue.

And that's why it hasn't been fixed by software updates.

I am tempted to buy another iPhone and see if I have the same issue. If I do, return it under my 14 day period.

If it works, I'll sell my original 15 second hand and take a loss of a few hundred bucks.

It's a shame Apple is more interested in selling recurring revenue service than producing excellent and innovative hardware.

It's been a notable decline since Jobs & then Ilve moved on.

iPhone 15 Pro

iOS 17.2.1

I have a similar problem on my iPhone 15 Pro.

Bluetooth voice call quality is poor and the connection drops nine times out of ten at around 40 seconds before reconnecting and being completely stable.

Spoken to numerous advisors and reset network settings, all settings, changed my phone name etc: STILL DOESN'T WORK.

After remotely checking my phone’s hardware and none of the resets having worked, their conclusion is that it’s the car manufacturers problem as the software in the car must need updated to support newer phones.

Key Points:

1) Connection is stable once it reconnects during a call after 40 seconds.

2) My partners iPhone 14 running 17.2.1 connects.

3) My old XR running 17 connects.

4) Calls via AirPods completely fine.

4) Support recommendations don’t make any difference bar needing me to redo FaceID, redo wifi and Bluetooth connections and restore all of my phone preferences one at a time.

Not happy.

Good morning everyone.

Just an update from my previous visit to the Genius Bar, so one of the staff told me that “HE NEVER HEARD THIS ISSUES” they did DIAGNOSTIC TEST on my iPhone 15P but BT no problem. They advised me to reset all settings but same no changes. Next step they advised me to bring it back to the Store so they can do FACTORY RESET. I’m thinking it’s only small BT issues they want to do FACTORY RESET!!! imagine if we do get any other issues - atm I’m waiting for the next IOS UPDATEs but seems still BT issues not fix yet.

I purchased my phone from Costco and have tried everything suggested to fix it, latest firmware, removing Bluetooth devices restarting and establishing connections, and even a factory reset but the issue persists. I can be connected to my BMW 3 series coupe (2013) listening to music through Bluetooth absolutely fine, as soon as a call comes through connection just drops. When this happens it leaves me with 2 options; (1) leave the caller suspended and unable to hear them, or (b) break the law (UK based) and touch the phone to put the phone in speaker mode. This is really not good enough.

Costco have a 90 day guarantee on phones, so I’ve contacted them today to arrange a return, refund and I will reorder another to see if it has the same issue… not holding my breath.
