Standby mode on iPhone 15 pro max does not stay on

I recently got a iPhone 15pro max and cannot figure out how to get the standby mode to display the clock all night long. At some point last night I tried turning off all focus modes (do not disturb and sleep) and that might have done it. However if the focus modes aren't on what is going to prevent phone calls, notifications, and texts in the middle of the night. Not to mention my Apple Watch then lights up every time I move my wrist. What am I missing? Would be nice to see the clock without having to touch or move.

A test I made:

  • If I put my iPhone on the magsafe but the power supply cable plugged into the magsafe charger, it will eventually turn off (randomly)
  • If I put my iPhone on the magsafe BUT plug the phone directly into the charger cable (use the magsafe only to hold the phone horizontally), it will stay on all night no problem...

Tried 3 different magsafe charger, changed my Apple factory cable to another and also the power supply but test it and see if you have the same results as me.

Hopefully Apple will fix this because as many, if I have to touch my screen after 2-3-5 hours, it wakes me up...

Is Screen Time Enabled?:

If Screen Time is set up and enabled, then you may have disallowed access to this phone during this time, other including other abilities to use this.

  1. Go Here: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. As it Reads: "To change or turn off the passcode on your child's device, go to Settings > Screen Time and tap your child's name. Then tap Change Screen Time Passcode or Turn Off Screen Time Passcode, and authenticate the change with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode."

Edit Standby Mode:

Hold your finger down for a few on the clock face while in Standby Mode. Tap the Clock widget when all shows. See if you can then edit the timezones. Try various timezones, seeing if you can get to the correct time that will allow you to get in, as if the time has already expired.

I'm also seeing this issue. I bought a mag-safe stand so I could use my phone as a bedside clock at night. It works fine for a few hours, but the display turns off eventually. If I move, then it turns back on, but will once again turn off after another 3 hours or so. I have Night Mode enabled. I'm running IOS 17.2.1 on a brand new iPhone 15 Pro.

I've tried using both Automatic and Always On standby display settings. Even in Always On mode, it will turn off after a few hours.

Is this just how it's supposed to work? If so, I don't understand the rationale for it. To me, it looks like a bug.

Doing follow up of original post. I've been trying to figure out what is going on with the Standby Mode. In my situation it seems to stay on for at least several hours but then goes off at 10:43 Pm. It then comes back on, and stays on starting at 8:00 am. Cannot not figure out why it does this. I've change the times of, and even tried deleting my Do not disturb and Sleep focus settings without it making a difference. It is certainly a mystery.
