I’ve always used the double tap feature on the back of the phone for muting and unmuting and now (got the iPhone 15 Pro Max) the option for “Mute” is not showing for the Back Tap feature.

I got my new iPhone 15 pro max yesterday and have the same issue. For years I have used back tap to put my iPhone 12 Pro Max on silent mode and now the action button seems a clunky choice and a step backwards. I also had the mute option listed in back tap options which has now disappeared after changing, which is frustrating. Being able to quickly put phone on silent is essential.

I have “None” on triple tap. It just done disappeared. It doesn’t show on any menu, I also checked if maybe it was because I got the new action button set to Mute (even though it still should allow me to toggle mute with both the action button and back tap) so I changed it to something else and the option still did not appear. On my old phone it showed up aight. Is it on purpose for all devices or is there something wrong with mine? Thanks for the reply.

It sounds like you're trying to assign "Mute" when you use Back Tap. We can help.
The option for "Mute" should be available for you to select as an option. Check out these steps Use Back Tap on your iPhone. If you still don't see the option for "Mute", make sure it isn't already selected for the other Back Tap option - Double Tap/ Triple Tap.
If you continue having difficulty, you can connect with Apple directly to report the behavior using either Get Support or if you're in a region without direct support options, you can also Contact Apple for support and service.

On an iPhone 15 Pro Max, you may activate Silent Mode using the Action button as described in Customize the Action button on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. If Mute is not listed in the options for Back Tap on your model device, then that would not be an available choice for that Accessibility feature. You may provide feedback on this at the page Feedback - iPhone.

Unfortunately not! I work around it. Action button still irritating me when groping for volume buttons- well done Apple 😃 #progress

The mute button appeared as a default for the triple tap but when I changed it, the option disappeared completely.

I just updated my iPhone 15 pro max to 17.4 and it has disappeared. I had it set up on 17.3. Does anyone here have a solution?
I’m having the same issue. It was there on 17.3 and then it was gone after updating to 17.4. And this is on an iPhone 15 Pro Max
