Markup issue on Mac and Ipad (possible continuity issue or just markup in general)

Hi all, i am using macos sonoma currently and the preview annotate function is great! The continuity markup function allow me to send it to my ipad for sketching and annotation which i love. Problem is, i realised after annotation or mark up, it does really etch onto the original file, it is more like a overlay...

for example, when i look at the thumbnail or when i send the file over whatsapp. the thumbnail would show the original file without annotation. only opening it up will show the annotation/mark up

Second problem i have, i want to make additional annotation after the first version. When i redo the same process to reflect on my ipad, all the annotation are either gone (see photo) or misalign). Which i figured that annotation is just an overlay.

How do i fixed or etch the annotation permanently? Doing another screenshot seem silly. my other worry is, what if i send it to a windows or android user, will they just see the file without annotation overlay?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.0
