This kept popping up on Safari this morning, after clicking something accidentally. I thought Macs were immune to these viruses (I have a MacBook Pro) I have not clicked on it as I am worried that the scam is actually allowing these folk to scan and have access to my computer . Can you please confirm if this is a scam?

Yes, all such messages are scams presented by criminals. Close the offending page and then avoid sites that are involved in such bogus advertising tactics.
