SG*OriginalPlus subscription charge? - Apple Pay Wallet

I received an emailed receipt for £29.99 from SG Original Plus for a subscription i never ordered. my current account was debited £29.99. the transaction appears in my apple pay wallet but I have no idea how it happened. Does anyone have any suggestions? Somehow, this company had my email address, and the receipt they sent me by email specified that I had purchased a subscription for one month - with a start and end date. I have no idea where this all came from. I didn't seek out this company - I have no interest or knowledge in or of them, and I never gave any personal details to them at all - or purchase instructions. However, according to the payment history in my Apple Wallet, I payed £29.99 to them at 12.59 on 5th Oct but I wasn't even using my phone at this time. What is going on?

Same happened to me…. Changing your card doesn’t suffice… they still tried to take the £29.99 from my new card even before i received it in the post and activated it! All because I unknowingly subscribed when I hit a green ‘start’ button on another application that I use regularly. It was a pop up advertisement… The ONLY way is to cancel the subscription… website ‘Original Plus’ (not SG original plus) and get into your profile to manage your account and cancel. Your bank will not be able to block payments as we have unwittingly authorised them in the first instance … first time was for 50p which they immediately refunded. I have now finally received my first email from them saying sorry to see you go…. Never received one in the first instance to confirm my subscription. All very devious and scary!

I’m not sure this is anything to do with Applepay or some “illegal” use of bank card details. I have not cancelled my bank card or stopped using Applepay. When I first got caught out it was clearly linked to my rush to pay for parking online at the car park and somehow I was “led” into thinking I was putting my details into the parking website (or App) but instead I was signing up for the SG*OriginalPlus streaming service. When I saw the debit from my bank account (£29.99) I immediately contacted the bank to stop any further payments to that company. I then went onto that company website, was able to sign in using my “normal” (used for everything) user name and password and was able to cancel the subscription. I then emailed their customer services to explain that I didn’t want to sign up, had never streamed anything and claimed a full refund of the initial £29.99. I got that back into my bank account within a few days. Annoying that it happened but all sorted now. Still using bank card and Applepay.

The SG is Apple Singapore and one of several billing locations for products and services, such as subscriptions, that would be billed from a regional location. Did you subscribe to Apple TV+ or another service? Did you have a free trial you forgot to cancel?

If you review your recent purchases at link below do you see a similar amount?

I had the same thing happen to me. Today the pending transaction for this subscription of £29.99 showed up. I called the bank and they said it was for a transaction originally of 50p then refunded on 11/10/2023. I was on holiday at the time and remembered I was trying to set up a pay for parking app and I remember this 50p thing popping up and thinking it was the car parking company. The internet connection was terrible and I think I accidentally clicked on a pop up ad, rather than the car park logo. The bank cannot guarantee I will get the money back but will put a charge back request on it. I have had to cancel my card to stop future payments being taken

Same here

i had to download a parking app last weekend at a London tube station, I paid with Apple pay

this weekend, I get scammed £29.99 by sg*origionalplus

I phoned first direct bank ( hsbc) and they are aware it’s a scam, now my old card is terminated and new one in the post tonite, loads of hassle to set up new account payments etc, first direct were spot on as usual.

even told me how it works

message to all, don’t download apps using QR scan links, it’s the new scammers favourite work around.

Yes.. the website is originalplus.co….( a film streaming site)……..you have to enter your email address to sign in….( have no idea where they originally got my email from)……. Then to your ‘profile’…then to ‘manage account’…… where you can then cancel your subscription. Had to try several attempts but got there in the end. See my screenshot above.

i am assuming and hoping I am now genuinely unsubscribed…. Not sure now if you’re saying company is dissolved?!

after reading previous threads there is some connection in my case as it happened with ‘Vinted’ and ‘Apple Pay’

Hi if this helps anyone.

i have just to access a cell tower map on a website. This lot present as a you have to register to access the site. They take your email address and ask for credit card or apple pay to do an active card check. Take and refund 50p

that signs you up to a 7 day free trial for something you never heard of and don't want which renews at £29.99 a week later.

you have to log into their website from the email you get to cancel it.

This is a user to user forum. No one here can cancel anything for you.

Read the entire thread. The helpful response is wrong, it has nothing to do with Apple.

Contact your bank or card issuer and block the charge. Then try going to the originalplus.co website, and log in, and see if you can unsubscribe from their service.

This is not related to Apple in any way shape or form.

Like all here I’ve been caught by this company. I’ve received the money back via my bank and cancelled the subscription I never subscribed to!

Ive tried to find out from the company how they obtained the money from AppleWallet, given I had never subscribed to SG. This is their reply:

This happened to me too. What is it while you are completing some signing on an app it pops up and you think you are signing up for the app but actually you end up signing up for the one plus max. It's a scam as it pops up as an advertising while you are downloading something or completing an app online. Go on to their home page and cancel it. Also report to trading standards as many people like myself fell for it when we really don't have any intention to sign up for movie/entertainment.
