SG*OriginalPlus subscription charge? - Apple Pay Wallet

I received an emailed receipt for £29.99 from SG Original Plus for a subscription i never ordered. my current account was debited £29.99. the transaction appears in my apple pay wallet but I have no idea how it happened. Does anyone have any suggestions? Somehow, this company had my email address, and the receipt they sent me by email specified that I had purchased a subscription for one month - with a start and end date. I have no idea where this all came from. I didn't seek out this company - I have no interest or knowledge in or of them, and I never gave any personal details to them at all - or purchase instructions. However, according to the payment history in my Apple Wallet, I payed £29.99 to them at 12.59 on 5th Oct but I wasn't even using my phone at this time. What is going on?

Same happened to me…. Changing your card doesn’t suffice… they still tried to take the £29.99 from my new card even before i received it in the post and activated it! All because I unknowingly subscribed when I hit a green ‘start’ button on another application that I use regularly. It was a pop up advertisement… The ONLY way is to cancel the subscription… website ‘Original Plus’ (not SG original plus) and get into your profile to manage your account and cancel. Your bank will not be able to block payments as we have unwittingly authorised them in the first instance … first time was for 50p which they immediately refunded. I have now finally received my first email from them saying sorry to see you go…. Never received one in the first instance to confirm my subscription. All very devious and scary!

I too tried to pay via an app for parking and was something like APOCA it said there was a 50 p charge to subscribe so I could pay for parking in Wales but the App didn’t work and so paid cash instead at the machine.

That was a week ago and today saw the £29:99 charge and an email , so contacted card issuer and blocked my card linked to Apple Pay and also got the pending payment stopped, took around 20 minutes on the phone to the fraud department of my card issuer. This seems like a sharp practice to catch people out😡

I was subject to this same scam/fraud. Money taken from account on 28 October. Then 8 November I received an email from the company sayin Zi had subscribed to this entertainment pass.

I have had the money returned by bank Though I was dissatisfied with the assistance from the bank’s (NatWest) fraud people who said that there was nothing they could do because the payment had been made via Apple Wallet!

I have reported company to Metropolitan Police fraud

Do Apple read this site? Given this has affected so many of their users you would think they would look into the matter

I have contacted the bank and that company is now blocked so no further payments will be made. That was done whilst the payment was pending. I’ll contact the back again today now that the payment has been taken to see if they can somehow recover this unauthorised payment.

I also went on to the Originalplus website and found that I had a subscription which I then cancelled.

Also I contacted their customer support team re this issue but currently they’re saying that my email address isn’t recognised. The saga goes but at least I’ve stopped any future payments.

I blocked my credit card linked to Apple Pay (no false shadow should fall on their greate service) and contacted my bank about a payment to SG*….which I did not authorize Oct 26. Today I got my money back. Wow!😮.

The question remains how the fraudster’s succcedid? Was it through a refund of 5 cent 7 days before the withdrawal of €29,90.

There are thousands of bank customers within the EU and around the world who have been affected and it is worrying that this could happen. It damages trust. How do the banks plug such a hole so it doesn’t happen again???

I’m not 100% sure where the fault lies but clearly, in my case, the Ringo parking website led me unknowingly to join this streaming service before I knew what I was doing. 50p initial deduction before I realised that I was not in a parking website or app. Then the £29.99 was deducted from my bank account a few days later. However, following the advice from various folks within this chat I contacted the website and cancelled my “subscription”. I then contacted their customer services department by email, explained what had happened and requested a full refund. That arrived in my back account yesterday. So, a good closure for me.

This is the culprit….. see screen shot below….appeared as a pop up ad when trying to access my ‘gumtree’ account, my ‘vinted account, and my ‘what’s app for iPad’ account… and according to others on this thread, car parking (Ringo) accounts.

Pressed start button, 50p taken first, accepted in haste then it was refunded, then SG have your authorised bank details for the following £29.99!

I work for a bank. I have a heightened fraud awareness. I have no idea what I clicked on to cause this and definitely not for £29.99. I have contacted the bank and they have refunded. Also when ordering the new card, they de-linked it from the Apple wallet first and then I have re-linked it manually. Hoping that breaks the cycle (as I have read that some have still had the same problem even post stopping their card).
