As an alternative if you want to save them to later put back on a Mac then just right click on a folder and select export. Pick your USB drive. Later just import into mail.

Absolutely, you can use an Apple Mail converter to export your folders into various file formats like MSG, PST, EML, HTML, CSV, or PDF. Within the software interface, you have the option to choose a particular folder for the conversion process. Once converted, you can save these files onto your USB flash drive for easy transfer. This method ensures your Mail folders are saved in compatible formats that can be easily stored and accessed on your USB drive.

Prior to that, you must export Apple Mail data for the conversion process. Please refer to the instructions below. Subsequently, utilize the same file in the Apple Mail converter.

No, you can't do that by just dragging. You'll need to do the following:

1 - create folders on the Desktop and name them the same as the Mail folders you'll be exporting.

2 - select all of the emails in one Mailbox and export them as a PDFs or Save As one of these formats

to the folder on the Desktop with the same name.

3 - drag the folder from the Desktop to the Flash Drive.

Note: if you expect to import the emails into the Mail app on another Mac you should use the Raw Message Source which is .eml.
