iPhone 15 Pro / Max camera blurry and won't focus

As per the title. My iPhone 15 Pro Max doesn't focus closely when I use apps that require the camera.

example, application to read barcodes

or whatsapp

Is it just me who has this problem?

It doesn't happen on my iPhone 13 Pro Max

seems like iPhone 15 pro switch different lenses pretty well in the default camera app but other apps using camera functionality does have this support.

For example:

* Open WhatsApp chat and click + and click camera

* Now try moving the phone close to any object it will start blurring.

* I tried Facebook, Snapchat and a few other apps. Problem exists across all these apps.

* try the same with iMessages app and it uses the default camera app and it’s able to focus properly by switching lenses.

Hi,

I also experience problems with the iphone 15 Pro Max camera. My wife is a beekeeper so the phone is critical for her to take pictures of the frames and later on zoom in and inspect them closer. With the iphone 13 Pro and iphone 13 pro max we could simply point and click and later on zoom in and see amazing details.

But today I helped her and took pictures with the iphone 15 Pro max and these images look terrible. You can't zoom in everythings gets blurry. This is nowhere near the iphone 13 pro quality. My wife demands now that I get rid of this %$#!& iphone 15 pro and get her the iphone 13 pro again. This is not acceptable.

I tried to play with settings (even I should not have to) and disabled macro control, lens correction, prioritize faster shooting and portraits in photo mode and it did not help at all. There is something seriously wrong with the iphone 15 pro and pro max camera.

Same here, I used to make gorgeous photos of bugs on flowers. Also using the Seek or Plant Net app to identify some bugs. Now I have a Iphone 15 pro and even the regular camera can’t focus closely on small things. The camera switches without wanting to another lens so totally missing the item I want to capture! When I go further away and then zoom in it won’t focus correctly! This never happened with my previous IPhone 11. This is a rip off Apple

This is totally unhelpful none of these trouble shoots are work. 15Pro max camera is absolutely AWFUL. My iPhone X camera was much better than this one! Rear facing is atrocious but I am not a selfie taker (although it sucks that FaceTime and livestreams will look terrible), so I don’t care so much about that; but the front facing!!!!😭😭😭😱 SO SO BAD!

I am very versed in and skilled with the camera and camera settings on both Apple and Samsung phones and I have tried everything. It’s just simply a poor quality camera. I am so disappointed

I ended up opening a case & after several escalation was a on the phone with someone who agreed this was an issue & offered to escalate to Dev; right when they were in the middle of guiding me to collect diagnostics our call was disconnected. The person I ended up talking to after calling back tried to argue that the behavior I described (blurry pics when using Scan Documents in Notes) was actually expected, working as (incredibly poorly) designed. I didn't want to argue how ludicrous that was & left on a note that they would contact Dev anyway & get back. No news so far...

Same problem. I switched from iPhone 13 Mini to iPhone 15 Pro mainly for the camera, but I'm totally disappointed. The photos are often slightly blurry and faded, even with manual focus (autofocus often gets the wrong subject) and searching on the web I'm not the only one to have this problem. Furthermore, third-party apps do not support the macro and this makes it impossible to scan QR codes or documents.

If I went back I would have kept the 13 Mini or switched to the S24 Ultra.

I hope it's a software problem that they will solve (and that it's not a hardware problem with the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max)

I have the same issue with my iphone 15 pro since Nov 2023. I called them many times and they connected me to many “senior advisors” who would eventually ghost me!

only about a month ago one pf them had the courage to tell me that Apple’s technical engineering team respond to this was that I should contact every single app provider and tell them that they should change their software so it becomes compatible with iPhone!!!!

That’s the support they claim they have. I have bought iPhones only since smart phones become a thing but unfortunately I will never do it again.
