My iPhone 15 Plus is not Titanium

I assumed that all iPhone 15s were titanium but I just received my 15 Plus and it feels like plastic. Is this model made of plastic?

Thank you.

The iPhone 15 Pro models use the titanium chassis. Your iPhone 15 plus uses glass back and aluminium frame. From the Apple web description,

The innovative new design features back glass that has color infused throughout the material. A custom dual ion-exchange process for the glass, and an aerospace-grade aluminum enclosure, help make iPhone 15 incredibly durable.

IdrisSeabright,

Thanks for your response. I upgraded the phone through AT&T online. The closest Apple or AT&T store is an hour away, that's why I'm trying to figure out if the phone I received is somehow a refurb or even a black-market phone. I upgraded both my and my bride's to 15 Pluses (she got the pink and I got the black). Hers definitely feels like glass on both the front and back (and along the sides and top), but the black one feels like plastic, especially on the back (the logo is reflective but the rest of it is definitely some sort of plastic). Even the screen feels like clear plastic and not glass.

I'm contacting AT&T right now to see if there's something wrong with this one.

Again, thanks for answering and staying polite...

Folks,

I know what Apple says, but if this is glass, then I've lost my sense of touch. I get the aluminum surrounding, and even the "ceramic shield front (even though it sounds like plastic when I tap on it)," but the back definitely feels like plastic and sounds like plastic when I tap on it. I was mistaken with my original subject line about it not being made of titanium (I should have said "glass"), so for that I apologize. But this phone is definitely NOT glass...

There's no sense in arguing about it any further, none of you can see or feel what I'm seeing and feeling. Thank you for your responses.

One more time...

NONE of you are holding onto my phone right now. I AM. I know what I'm feeling and it's not glass. And in addition to FEELING like plastic, when I tap on it, it SOUNDS like plastic. Maybe this is the result of nanoparticles mixed with the glass (or whatever mumbo-jumbo Apple described it as), but it does NOT feel like glass.

Also, someone asked me the model number of my phone...I looked at the link that shows the model numbers of each model and the model number of my phone is not even close to those. That might be the issue...

Thanks for everyone's replies, even the snarky ones. I'm giving the impression that I'm not happy with the phone, which is not true. It's going into a protective case, so the back won't be seen anyway. I just want to make sure that there's not something wrong with it. It has a matte finish, so that might be why it doesn't feel smooth like glass.

Anyway, if everyone thinks that it's fine the way it is, I'm fine.

Again, thanks everyone.

iPhone 15 Pro models also only use titanium for the band while the internal chassis is aluminum.

The titanium band is bonded with a new internal aluminum frame through solid‑state diffusion. This is an industry‑first innovation, using a thermomechanical process that joins these two metals with incredible strength.

The internal frame is also made from 100% recycled aluminum, which contributes to our overall usage of recycled materials and helps us work toward our 2030 climate goals.

If you are really brave, try a hot pin test.

See https://jewellerymuse.wordpress.com/2013/07/01/tests-for-identifying-jewellery-materials-from-amber-to-whitby-jet/

It says glass will not be harmed by a hot pin test.

Then again, there may be modern plastics that resist damage from a hot pin. It if does not, then you might end up with a small scar. And probably a voided warranty.

"Is this jacket really bullet-proof?"

"I dunno. Only one way to find out!"
