how can I get messages icon back

sometimes the imessage icon shows up in my dock and then other times it is gone.....how do i find it and put it in the dock permanently?

Mac mini, macOS 14.0

Open the Applications folder, drage Messges to the Dock, vlick on the Messages icon in the Dock choose>Options>Keep in Dock.

Messages has disappeared from my dock From one day to the next, Messages has totally disappeared from my dock. I can still access it by typing Messages in the Search box, but that is getting old quick... Anyone know how this happened and/or how to rectify?
