iPhone 15 Pro Photos are Dark

Pictures are coming out darker after being taken with the front & back cameras. Compared with the iPhone 14 Pro & the iPhone 14's photo looks better. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing with their new iPhone 15s or knows the fix to this? This is frustrating since I need to take photos & videos for work.

The only way I can get my image to look the same in the photos app and elsewhere is to Go to Settings -> Photos-> and toggle OFF View Full HDR. This shows the image as you can expect it to look outside of the photo app when exporting. You just lose all the lovely HDR brightness and contrast. Still very disappointing.

Yes very disappointed. The natural colour is grey not natural cream or light frozen. The iPhone case is dove grey horrible.

I have return this colour for a return very miss leading Apple need to correct the colour issue on there website. Not what you would expect from a company who proud themself of great accurate photo colours.

Shame on you Apple

Having the same issue with my new IPhone 15 pro. It’s adding shadows and shows too much texture resulting in adding a couple years to my profile. It does the opposite of enhancing my pictures. It doesn’t compliment anyone’s face. Makes you look older and enhances any type of wrinkle or crevices. I want to return my phone. I got this phone thinking it had a better picture quality. It cost too much money for the picture quality to be terrible.

The whole point of using an iPhone camera is that someone doesn’t want to mess around with a fancy professional camera. So yes in general, pointing and clicking is what it should be. And it WAS that way until the iPhone 14 Pro came out. Now the 14 pro and the 15 pro do not take good photos. Please stop arguing….if this issue doesn’t affect you or you don’t care that people want good photos, just move along. Find a new issue to be passionate about.

I also upgraded from iPhone 12 Pro to the 15 pro. I wish I never upgraded. They say the camera is going to be much better, well it’s not. Everything is dark, I look 20 years older than I do. Apple you should be ashamed for tricking us all into getting this phone when it’s just a downgrade instead of an upgrade. We deserve for this issue to be solved. What is going on once that click happens? And in between the transfer of the picture being taken to into our photo albums. The color is disaster

Not sure if I’m just getting used to the poor quality now… but has anyone else noticed that if you take a selfie with 15 pro max in-front of a window with good light, it looks awful initially… but if you look at the pic a bit later, it looks better and as you might expect?? I was considering downgrading as within the returns period, but I don’t think they sell the 13 pro max anymore as can’t see it on their website! 😢

Very well said, and thank you for clarifying. Most of us want to be able to, for the most part, point and click obviously with maybe some small tweaks. Most of us aren’t professional photographers. I’ve had every phone since the iPhone 4. They’ve all taken pretty great photos until I got the 14 pro, and I had high hopes that the camera issue was fixed when I got the 15 pro, but unfortunately that isn’t the case. We spend a lot of money for these photos just to have the photos turn out dark and shadowy, and that is very unfortunate. Even if I try to lighten them using the settings on the iPhone it still doesn’t look as good as the photos I took with my iPhone 13 Pro. The camera should not be going downhill, but I feel like it is. Anyway, thanks again for clarifying everything. Have a good day!

Hi, am surprised that this hasn't been fixed. I used to use Note 10+ that takes very nice pictures. I got my Iphone 14 pro Max in Oct 2022, was very disappointed when I noticed that the pictures turn dark when you go to the gallery but it is brighter when you are taking it. I went to Apple store, made my complains, was told to wait for a software update. Up till now, it is the same. No software update since 2022 has fixed it. You can’t even speak to someone in phone at least, to say ur concerns, they will always say go to the apple online community.

How can someone buy an expensive phone for $1400 and it messes up your pictures. Some times I feel like just dumping the phone. I do not think I will upgrade if this issue persists in upcoming new Iphone models. It's not encouraging at all.
