iPhone 15 Pro Photos are Dark

Pictures are coming out darker after being taken with the front & back cameras. Compared with the iPhone 14 Pro & the iPhone 14's photo looks better. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing with their new iPhone 15s or knows the fix to this? This is frustrating since I need to take photos & videos for work.

The only way I can get my image to look the same in the photos app and elsewhere is to Go to Settings -> Photos-> and toggle OFF View Full HDR. This shows the image as you can expect it to look outside of the photo app when exporting. You just lose all the lovely HDR brightness and contrast. Still very disappointing.

Issues with both front and back camera. Standing in front of a bright open window. The image always looks bright in the viewfinder before taking the picture (screenshot of screen, on left) after you take the picture (on right), the image is noticeably darker. It looks like there may be automatic sharpening or clarity enhancing and that could be what makes the photos so dark. Is there a way to turn it off?

Compared to previous models of iPhones, the iPhone 15 does not maintain the quality of images. I have been an iPhone user since the SE models. The images taken by the front and rear cameras are blurry and dark. Also, the subject of the image will be scattered if enlarged. This is the first time this kind of problem has happened on iPhone.I hope that this issue will be resolved by next software update.

I’m also having the same issue.

I have spent hours on my settings and nothing is fixing this issue. Before capturing the picture the quality is amazing. The moment you take the picture and look back in your camera roll - the picture becomes darkened and pixelated.

I am not sending my phone to apple in hope they can fix this. This is 100% fixable as the camera is good quality. It’s just a fault when you capture an actual picture.

I am having the same issue. I am an aesthetic nurse injector so up close photos are a huge part of my business and my before photos on my iPhone 13 Pro Max look Better than my iPhone 15 pro max.

the photos look great until you click capture and it comes out dark, grainey or on the flip side over saturated and over exposed when I try to use my ring light like I normally have. It’s driving me crazy and I’ve adjusted so many setting I dont Know what else to do.

I guess I am not the only one who’s experiencing the same problem. I am so sorry to hear that you are having the same issues. At the moment I am back to using my iPhone 11 Pro Max and as soon as I transferred everything to my old phone from the 15 pro max, I took a selfie when it was cloudy and gloomy but guess what I was happy with my pics and it’s so much better! I am waiting for my replacement so let’s see what happens!

hope you can resolve your problems soon.

Just got my new iPhone 15 pro as a birthday gift yesterday and sooo disappointed:( My old iPhone XS was taking better selfies than iPhone 15 pro does!

then i turn on the front cam, I can see myself clearly, the image is bright and great, but then I tap the button - the final image in Photos is just awful. Dark and highlighting all disadvantages of the face. I’m afraid to take selfies now because they won’t be good. So sad.
