Using iTunes on Windows 11 to backup my iPhone 12. I want to backup to my external hard drive, but do not see any way to change the location of backups in iTunes.

Note that iTunes will still check the main drive for free space when determining if there is enough room to create a backup. Backups do not include media, apps, or data that ordinarily lives in the cloud. See Backup methods for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support for details. Ideally you should backup to your computer and to iCloud for some redundancy.

Apple does not recommend changing the location of the backup folder.

However, you could copy the whole backup folder to an external drive as a backup, and then delete the existing backups, using the backup list in iTunes.
