How do I fix the selfie camera of my iPhone 15 Pro Max?

It seems that whenever I take pictures even if front of bright light, the iPhone 15 pro max camera dulls it. The processed picture is never as bright the way it was in the picture! My iPhone 11 preserves the bright light but it seems as if the 15 pro max dulls it so it’s never as bright. Is there a way this could be changed???

I found a solution to the front camera issue with iPhone 15.

I recently upgraded my iPhone XR to an iPhone 15 pro and I was really excited about it, expecting it to be a lot better than my old XR. However, turns out the iPhone 15 pro is a big disappointment, especially the front camera. You hold your iphone in front of you and everything looks good, you take the picture and...it looks compeltely different from what you just saw on the screen before taking the picture. The picture looks grey, dull, grainy, and way to overprossesed. I honestly like my XR selfies way better than my 15 pro selfies. So I was thinking about returning my 15 pro and keeping my XR. There does not seem to be any real solution to this, I have tried everything (I thought), taking a screen-shot, using burst, editing the photo afterwards as people have suggested, but nothing seems to really work. The good news is I found a solution. So here comes the guide.

1.     You go into settings and search for camera

2.     Search for camera

3.     Choose formats

4.     Click on ProRaW & Resolution Control

5.     It doesn‘t matter if you choose HEIF Max, ProRaw 12 MP or ProRaw Max (up to 48 MP) in Pro Default

6.     Go into the camera app and turn the front camera on

7.     You will se „RAW12“ in the upper right corner, make sure this is on

8.     Take a photo

9.     Click on the photo

10.  It says RAW in the upper left corner now and not portrait

11.  Now the photo will still look the same (overprocessed, grey, and grainy)

12.  Now choose edit

13.  And you will see the photo change and become that raw photo you actually took, it will now look like it did on the screen before you took the photo

14.  However you cannot save the photo yet

15.  You have to choose adjust and then choose one of the features (exposure, brightness, saturation) it does not matter which one you choose, then adjust to only 1

16.  You will not be able to see an adjustment going from 0 to 1

17.  But now you can save the photo

18.  And there you go, you now have that raw photo you actually took without all that weird processing going on after you take the photo and it will look nearly identical to what you see on the screen before you take the photo (and it looks much more like my iphone XR selfies, just slightly better)

19.  It might not be as sharp, but than can easily be adjusted if you edit the photo

So there you go. I am thinking about keeping my iphone 15 pro now, the back camera is very good. I hope this helps for you too.

(I still think videos taken with the front camera lack some color though, I haven't found a solution to this yet, other than editing).

Apple please fix this problem. I take a selfie and love the image I’m looking at, but once I snap the photo and see the final image it’s garbage. I don’t see myself like that at all, and it makes me feel bad. It makes me feel old, and every flaw is accentuated even when I don’t see any flaws when I look at myself in the mirror or prior to taking the photo. It’s kind of depressing that it makes me feel so speckled, old, dark shadows, the list is long. Please fix the problem and go back to the old way.

I have reached out to apple multiple times about this issue and when I brought up this chat board and all the other people having this issue they said “u can’t listen to those places” I called and was on hold for 2 hours with apple just for them to tell me that they had never heard of this issue when clearly I know I am not the only one who’s reached out about this problem. I’ve been told updates will fix it in 6 months and my camera quality is passing all the tests it was put through. I had the iPhone 12 before this and I am absolutely disgusted by how apple has treated me and played dumb all this time after I spent almost 1000$ for a phone. I only have warranty what a year? So I am dragged around and having my time wasted so then when a year is up I will not ever be able to have this issue fixed. I have used apple products my whole life but this makes me want to never ever buy another apple product again.

I think this is more than embarrassing!! I have just bought my 1st iPhone (by accident, it is the latest-15), after reading so many positive 'official' reviews about the spectacular AI integrated into the camera. And I am more than disappointed!! The truth is that I had a Samsung Galaxy 8, a Huawei P20, and a Xiaomi that took wonderful pics, but I wanted to make an upgrade to my phone(the previous one, the Huawei, had its wi-fi connection lost). Trusting an Apple fan, I decided to give a chance to the iPhone, despite I thought it was too expensive comparing to what he does. The worst decision in my life!!! In the first place, I thought that I was insane, the pictures taken with the front camera were absolutely horrible!! Then I googled it and now I am thinking of returning the phone this weekend because nothing seems to convince me to keep it! I think the fact that the Apple team did not take any measures since now, is a real lack of respect. Otherwise, they must have done something with the quality of the portraits, especially selfies- they look dirty, miserable, grey, amplifying all the imperfections. On the other hand, the other pictures look very commercial, even if not really natural(but I like them).

Apple Team, maybe it's my lack of luck, but you have convinced me to never get another Apple again! To pity, because the other specifications were exactly to my taste and I got used to IOS during only one evening! Hope to hear from you soon, something to convince me to keep my iPhone 15 and not replace it with something else in the next 2 days (maybe an urgent release of an upgrade, fixing the problem-smooth filters incorporated in the camera app, more natural and bright colors for the faces, automated detection of human faces and smoother/ brighter appearance. At this moment, not only that the new camera amplify all the imperfections, but you look much much worse than in the mirror, in the harsh reality.

Hope for a swift reply!

Are u kidding me really probably going to take it back? I’d Samsung the answer????

So much money spent for a front camera that looks horrible !!!!! The over processing is horrible !!!

APPLE you need to address this issue ASAP!!

Its disappointing for so many people who got this phone for its camera to have such a horrible, bad quality, pixeled, grainy photos from the front camera .

Bad to say, but Xiaomi seems to have better quality in its front camera .

unbelievable

PLEASE FIX IT!!
