iPhone 15 Pro Max battery draining without use

I got my iPhone 15 Pro Max 2 weeks ago and its running iOS 17.0.3. Before I sleep I left it with 100% battery charge, waking up after 7hrs my battery went to 89% without even using it. Even though I followed all the settings in the internet on how to keep my battery from draining too fast but the problem still the same. I even put it on low power mode all the time. I hope they will fix this as soon as possible.

Well, that's entirely unhelpful. You seem to be intentionally dismissing the point. Lots of people, me included, have noticed a significant change in battery use compared to past models/iOS. So the point isn't what the charge level is when I wake up, it's the fact that I'm seeing overnight battery discharge AT A HIGHER RATE THAN MY PRIOR PHONE/iOS. What's relevant about the "overnight" part is that it's the best, lengthy time period to compare conditions because they phone isn't used.

If, as you claim without evidence, that's just the phone doing what it's designed to do, then I'm pretty ****** that I paid so much for a phone that performs worse than the 2-year-old model it replaced.

It is not limited to the iPhone 15. My iPhone 14 Pro does that same thing for a couple of weeks / month now. Not sure when it started. Even during the day in airplane mode the battery drain stays the same. Location service on/off -> doesn't matter. Always on display on/off -> doesn't matter. No apps running when I check under Battery, doesn't matter -> constant battery drain per hour. LTE/5G disabled -> doesn't matter. Wireless disabled -> doesn't matter.

My iPhone 14 used to drain about 7% - 10% battery per night. I am right now at 30% or more and again during the day nothing makes a difference.

I erased everything and went back to all default (no restore / no additional apps) and that seemed to fix things and my battery drain is normal again.

I could try to add a few apps per day and monitor but it's really strange - especially because the phone doesn't show any apps in use - nothing. I think this started with IOS 17.x but I don't recall a 100%.

I read the thread but it doesn't answer the org question nor does it provide a solution.

As mentioned one solution for me is to do a factory reset (erase all content) and no restore of apps/data but that is not a good solution.

My iPhone 14 Pro (default apps - after factory reset) will last me 2+ days with everything enabled. AOD, location services, Car Play, WiFi, LTE/5G etc.

Once I restore my data/apps (org. data came from an iPhone 13) I am down to 15 hours of light use / standby and I need to re-charge. This was not the case previously. Airplane mode, low power mode doesn't make a difference, battery drain remains the same.

Settings -> Battery usage by apps shows nothing, (0), nada.

I have the 15 pro and all I can say is worse battery I have ever had. I had my 11 since 2019 and got a replacement battery in it. Unfortunately it wasn’t an Apple but it was still ok even with my grandson using it on a 60 minute bus journey it still had life in it. Not this one my son has the x and I FaceTime my granddaughter she likes playing with the stickers etc we both started with 13%. And my phone switched off first over his. There is something seriously wrong

Which AI app did you get that from?

Item 8 is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! AirDrop uses ZERO energy except during a transfer. Wi-Fi uses no energy except when connected, and NONE when the phone is asleep. Bluetooth uses NO ENERGY except when connected to a device. And if you turn all of those off Find My will no longer work. And neither will automatic nightly backup.

I am wondering if the iphone heats up like this in the beginning after backups are transpiring then after this everything cools down and the phone runs normally without battery drain and overheating?

I know I had these issues at first then after a week it all stopped and I haven't had the issues again.

I bought the iphone 15 pro about two months ago and this went on only for the first week then no more.

Has this been the case with anyone else?

Thanks.

It sounds like you are in an area with low cell coverage and are using cellular data.

The worse the signal reception in your area, the more energy is required to maintain contact with your local cell tower, which may result in the battery usage you see.

As always, the way to avoid such issues is to always connect your phone to a charger overnight.

I’m experiencing the same thing! Went from iPhone 13 Pro Max to an iPhone 15 pro max & my battery life is either the same or worse! I think it’s a processor issue. Because I can be on this site or the regular Apple website & it might go down 1-2% in 20-30 minutes while in use. But right when I close the safari app out & turn the screen off & yet in approximately 30-120 seconds the battery will immediately drain another 1-2% after I tap the screen for the screen to come on. So basically it uses more battery when not in use than it does while being used. The always on screen, location services, Siri, automatic updates & downloads, Bluetooth, iCloud cellular synching, hotspots, airdrop, background refresh, keyboard haptics, rise to wake screen, etc. are all off.

Hi Everyone!

I've got the same problem in my new iphone 15 pro max.

It has a clear battery drainig problem. My iphone 13 pro max was immortal, when not in use it dropped max 1% in one night. The 15 pro max is always dropping percentage and it last worst then an 83%(battery capacity) iphone 13 pro max.

For sure it is a software problem, we need to find the cause that affect us. Probably it's just a bug on some settings that makes the software spend energy for no reason.

Thanks everyone!
