iPhone 15 Pro Max battery draining without use

I got my iPhone 15 Pro Max 2 weeks ago and its running iOS 17.0.3. Before I sleep I left it with 100% battery charge, waking up after 7hrs my battery went to 89% without even using it. Even though I followed all the settings in the internet on how to keep my battery from draining too fast but the problem still the same. I even put it on low power mode all the time. I hope they will fix this as soon as possible.

There is nothing to fix. Any cell phone uses energy continuously, as long as it isn’t powered off. This means that if it is not connected to power for 8 hours the battery level will be lower at the end of that time. How much lower depends on what apps you have, how many notifications you have enabled (which will be delivered and processed by apps even if you force close apps-they will relaunch when a notification arrives), and, probably most important, how strong your cellular signal from the network is; your phone maintains a "conversation" with the network so your phone can be found when a call or text arrives, and low signal strength requires much more energy to do this update to the network. Thus, you should be charging your phone overnight so this nighttime usage is powered by the external source rather than the battery.

And 11% overnight is a reasonable discharge rate for the normal things that any smartphone does; a smartphone is never without use; there are always processes running on it.

And I do not agree with the overnight charging concept, because this issue is not limited to what happens during the night. It's the same drain while keeping the phone in the pocket during the day. If you do not carry a charger or a powerbank, you end up with low battery in the evening, maybe when you need it. Imagine a 1 day trip in the country-side. You want to be able to count on the phone to not drain while in the pocket. I was once in this situation, got lost in a natural park in Croatia, evening was near, got my 14 out and oriented fast.

Whether you agree or not, it is what Apple recommends, and it extends the useful life of the battery because nighttime energy use comes from the external power source rather than the battery, thus reducing the number of full charge cycles over the life of the phone.

I read the thread but it doesn't answer the org question nor does it provide a solution.

As mentioned one solution for me is to do a factory reset (erase all content) and no restore of apps/data but that is not a good solution.

My iPhone 14 Pro (default apps - after factory reset) will last me 2+ days with everything enabled. AOD, location services, Car Play, WiFi, LTE/5G etc.

Once I restore my data/apps (org. data came from an iPhone 13) I am down to 15 hours of light use / standby and I need to re-charge. This was not the case previously. Airplane mode, low power mode doesn't make a difference, battery drain remains the same.

Settings -> Battery usage by apps shows nothing, (0), nada.

Last update for me, since my problem is solved now.

iPhone 14 Pro: charged on Wednesday 1/17/2024 10:06 am to 82%

Today, Friday 1/19/2024 at 10:09 am the Battery is at 50%

That is 32% power consumption for 2 days. I am a lightweight iPhone user: a few Whatsapp, Authenticator for work, a few phone calls etc - so your mileage may vary but it was crazy before with this usage pattern to only have 15 hours of Battery with my iPhone.

I have the 15 pro and all I can say is worse battery I have ever had. I had my 11 since 2019 and got a replacement battery in it. Unfortunately it wasn’t an Apple but it was still ok even with my grandson using it on a 60 minute bus journey it still had life in it. Not this one my son has the x and I FaceTime my granddaughter she likes playing with the stickers etc we both started with 13%. And my phone switched off first over his. There is something seriously wrong

Which AI app did you get that from?

Item 8 is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! AirDrop uses ZERO energy except during a transfer. Wi-Fi uses no energy except when connected, and NONE when the phone is asleep. Bluetooth uses NO ENERGY except when connected to a device. And if you turn all of those off Find My will no longer work. And neither will automatic nightly backup.

I am wondering if the iphone heats up like this in the beginning after backups are transpiring then after this everything cools down and the phone runs normally without battery drain and overheating?

I know I had these issues at first then after a week it all stopped and I haven't had the issues again.

I bought the iphone 15 pro about two months ago and this went on only for the first week then no more.

Has this been the case with anyone else?

Thanks.

I'm having the same issue with my Iphone 15 model, battery is almost draining 10% everynight, even I charge my phone to 80% and put it on charge at 20-25, background refresh is off (only WIFI), location services completely off, yet the same thing is happening. This is my first apple device and I'm so disappointed with the battery drain in idle mode. Even my 5 years old MI note 7 pro has less battery drain in idle mode around 2-5% only.

My iPhone 15 pro max is 3 days old and I feel like my battery is dropping like crazy! the total active screen time from the first use of the device doesn’t even make 4 hours! Furthermore, I’ve even been using it on low power mode ever since. Updated the iOS and also the settings, I believe all the settings are set in the most battery friendly mode. My charging technique is ideal as well, no heating issues, no use of any kind of performance demanding apps and likewise stuff. Somebody up with a resolution?
