Depth Effect is No Longer Available on a Photo that Had It. What’s the fix?

I just got my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I was trying to adjust the colors of a photo that was being used on my lock screen with depth effect, but once I tried to use the edited photo, I can no longer trigger depth effect. I then reverted it back to original, it still wouldn’t work like before. Why, and how I fix it?

Update: I think this is a bug in the system that Apple needs to fix.

If you have a photo you took yourself that the system can recognize for depth effect, the system will no longer recognize that if you use any of iOS’s photo editing tools on that photo, whether you’ll revert it back to original or not.

A temporary workaround for now is that if the photo is a live photo, you can select a different moment to make it the key image, which somehow changes the photo’s metadata enough for the system to reconsider it for depth effect; but then, if you edit that key image, you will invalidate it for depth effect again.
