how to download MacOS Mojave 10.14 apple store download link says the link is damaged

I am trying to upgrade the OS on my macbook pro from Sierra 10.12.6 to Mojave 10.14 but am having the hardest time. When trying to download from the Apple store it says the download link is broken and so I cannot update?? why is this so difficult. How do I install the update?

For reference....

Updating the macOS:

Determining which Update(s) will Install:

I. Verify Compatibility:

A. Start Here: Learn About Compatibility and how to Identify your Specific Mac Model - Apple Support

B. How to Verify:

I. Reveal your Model:

What is the Model of your Mac? To find out...

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Click: About this Mac
  3. View: Second Line-Down

then...

II. Compare the Results:

See if the Model you found is shown here:

III. If Compatible:

Back Up your Mac First:  Be certain you Create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac, so that way you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reconfiguration.

Where to Get macOS 10.14.4 Upgrade:

Use this link: Download macOS Mojave 10.14.4 Combo Update

If it will not run, then either you’re having issues with the files, or the download is a broken link. Download just fine for me (but I have no intent on installing and running it).

Thank you Martin. Should I go to the Apple Store? Will they charge me and ask me to pay to support fee? I usually fix things myself but I need to update my system in order to continue using my online banking so I find myself in this situation. My research shows that I should upgrade to Mojave 10.14 so that my version of LR 6 will also still work. I have a MacbookPro 2017 with 64 bit processor.

When you install MacOS 10.13 High Sierra, the drive setup will be automatically adjusted for you to use Apple File System going forward. You should install that version deliberately to get the best conversion.

If you try to leap directly to the endpoint, your drive may not be adequate, and that version may not be so willing to convert it for you.

it also says that version of the install is damaged and cannot be used!

Not the first time someone has encountered this message. The installer isn't actually damaged; what happened is the certificate associated with the installer had expired (possibly the installer was downloaded some time ago).

The solution is to change the date on your Mac back to when the version of macOS you are trying to install was current. Go to System Preferences > Date & Time. Disable (uncheck) "Set date and time automatically" and then manually change the date. For High Sierra 10.13.6, I'd suggest October 1, 2018. Then run the High Sierra installer. After the upgrade is complete, reset the Date & Time to automatic.

UPDATE

After I first saved the above, I saw your message that you successfully upgraded to High Sierra by downloading a new copy of the installer. Great news! (So, you can ignore my message ...)
