Is it safe to charge an iPhone15 Pro via USB-C and with a MagSafe car charger simultaneously?

I just purchased a magnetic phone holder/wireless charger made by Celly (GHOSTSUPERMAGCH)). It is capable of inductively charging a phone with up to 15W power from a QC 3.0 power supply (which is in my case plugged into my car's cigarette lighter type 12 V outlet). For just charging and holding securely the phone, this is very handy and I wish to keep the Celly connected to the car electricity all the time so that my phone could always receive a charge when placed on the MagSafe holder/charger.

The Apple CarPlay implementation in my car only supports iPhones via a USB-A connection (BT is not possible in my 2018 car). Its USB-A interface also powers and charges the phone when connected and I do not think I could disable its charging function in any way.

I would of course like to avoid every time connecting and disconnecting the iPhone when I wish to use the CarPlay system, to avoid damage to or premature wear of the phone's USB-C connection (the USB-A/USB-C cable always stays in the car, so I disconnect it at the phone end). But as a Bluetooth connection with the CarPlay system is impossible, I must re-connect the cable whenever I wish to use the CarPlay!

It would of course be nice if I could just place the phone on to the MagSafe holder/charger and use BT to connect to CarPlay while the MagSafe holder feeds power to and charges the phone as necessary.

When I connect my iPhone to the CarPlay e.g. for navigation - and if it is placed onto the MagSafe holder/charger which is live (i.e. connected to car electricity) - then there are 2 independent charging channels available for my iPhone 15 Pro to use simultaneously. And the phone would most likely want to recharge itself if the battery is less than 100%. I could imagine that it would try to draw current from both sources.

This double-charging situation is entirely possible, but is it safe? Can it damage the phone or its battery??

Of course I could always disconnect the MagSafe charging cable when I like to use the CarPlay. But it is entirely possible to forget to do that. Therefore, it's a good idea to know what happens from the battery charging point of view in this situation.

Thanks already for an answer!

Sorry, I initially misunderstood your suggestion!

I found out (in the internet) that Apple phones always prioritize the wired connection for charging the device. So, that already solved my charging concerns. My phone will be charged via the MagSafe charger/holder only when the phone's USB-C port is not connected. And the phone will be charged thru its USB-C port whenever the port is connected to a live power source (in this case the car's USB-A port); thus ignoring the Magsafe holder as a possible charging source. So, no double-charging worries any more!

When I want to use the Infotainment display for things like navigation the need to repetitively connect/disconnect the phone to the car's CarPlay system with a proper USB cable remains.

I took a look at the wireless CarPlay adapters available from Amazon (and various other suppliers). They lack the magnetic holding function and the possibility to attach the adapter to the dashboard or an air vent. Therefore I cannot simply replace my exiting Celly MagSafe charger with any of those!

But such a wireless CarPlay adapter should get rid of the wired connection requirement making a USB cable unnecessary between the phone and the vehcile's CarPlay system. Instead, I will have to switch the Bluetooth on/off repeatedly - unless I keep it always on.

A wireless CarPlay adapter may be a good idea, so thank you. I should perhaps get one, although I was not aware they exist!

I ordered, received and installed a CarlinKit 5.0 2Air wireless adapter today. It converts the wired Apple CarPlay system of my car to a wireless Apple CarPlay absolutely fine.

The initial installation was straightforward, fast and problem free. And after initial installation and my permission for use by the wired CarPlay system, this adapter re-connects my phone to the CarPlay for the next use effortlessly and even faster than I am able to prepare the car for a GO!

Thanks!

But my car does not support Apple CarPlay via Bluetooth for functions like navigation where I’d need the CarPlay display. Navigation is only possible via a wired connection; i.e. USB.

Phone calls via BT are possible though incl. my Contacs in the iPhone.

But I already found the answer to the charging issue elsewhere.
