I was wondering why mouse support doesn't work on older iOS devices, e.g. iPad Mini2? Apple places great emphasis on people with disabilities and/or illnesses. The iPad Mini2 is still a usable tablet for basic Internet activities and it supports external keyboards. Using a BT mouse would be a great help to people who even have difficulty raising their hands from table due to heavy joint problems to use touch screen. I also know such a person and he has no money to buy a newer iPad (and ****, he even don't accept gifts out of pride). Have you ever thought about? There are people in the world how have no money for a newer tablet than the Mini2. Have you ever imagined that? So I just wanted to point that out this lack of HW support is strange.

iOS for iPad has evolved over many years into iPadOS - and with this evolution of functionality, support for external pointing devices has been added over the years. An iPad mini2, mini3 and Air1 cannot be updated to iPadOS13.

The iPad mini2 is an older model - that ceased to benefit from major system software updates before support for many features were added to the OS.

While the iPad mini2 and similar models still retain a degree of utility, these models are becoming increasingly less useful, even for web browsing. Many websites and online services, in particular those that relate to financial services (such as banking) now have minimum security requirements that the available browsers for these older models do not support.

So you say. But I wasn't talking about installing ipadOS on unsupported hardware, but about updating the old iOS run by the old hardware. There have been iOS updates since an older iPad became unsupported. All hardware runs OSX, no matter what you call it. OSX is a UNIX that supports mouse. So I wouldn't call this a technical obstacle but a willful error. It's still an odd point from Apple. Have a nice day
