esim failing on iphone 12 pro MGMP3x/a 16.7.1

Thx in advance for ur assistance .. im really stuck .. i upgraded from iphone xs to iphone 12 pro MGMP3/XA on ios 16.7.1 .. now i cant access any esim options on this phone .. esim just not showing up .. i used esim on iphone 10 when travelling with no problems but now on this device no esim options appear under settings > Mobile and when i try to scan qr code from carrier nothing happens ..click on the link and nothing happens .. see below. im really stuck


  1. i have tried resetting network settings - no help
  2. I have tried taking out the sim - no help
  3. I have tried qr code from multiple carriers
  4. my wifes iphone 12 has no problems esim working perfect


any help or assistance is much appreciated. thx

To get started, was your iPhone purchased in China mainland? If so, these iPhone models as well as some models in Hong Kong and Macao would only support dual physical SIM cards. Check out this link here for more details: About eSIM on iPhone - Apple Support


eSIM on iPhone is not offered in China mainland. In Hong Kong and Macao, some iPhone models feature eSIM. Learn about using Dual SIM with two nano-SIM cards in China mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao. For travelers visiting China mainland who wish to use an eSIM for prepaid data plans, these are offered by many worldwide service providers. 


If your iPhone was not purchased in one of these locations, and with the steps you've already gone through, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly at this link here: Get Support - Apple


They'll be the best option to take a closer look into the issue from here.
