New MacBook Air won’t start.

My new 2023 MacBook Air M2 won’t start. An Apple icon keeps flashing on every 5 seconds on a black screen.

Yes I’m plugged in (directly to a wall outlet) but even the power cord’s light does not glow (neither orange or green). Please help me with info on how to reboot. (I’ve tried dozens of times)

iMac, OS X 10.11

When you say “new”. How new? You just took it out of the box? Or you’ve set it up already and not charged it for a long time and this power adapter worked before?

Unplug the adapter for 60 seconds.

Confirm this outlet works by plugging in something else like a lamp.

See: If your MagSafe cable or power adapter isn't working - Apple Support

you probably have the MagSafe 3 connector

And see: If your Mac doesn't turn on - Apple Support- You have a silicon Mac (not Intel)

Hi. Thanks for the response.

I bought it Sept 14 -with the power cord in the box - and it’s been working great since the first day.

I traveled from SF to Reno yesterday (Saturday) in my car. No movement or disruption of the computer.

Plugged it into my office power outlet… nothing happened. I followed all the 10-second hold suggestions… multiple times! No go. Held for 30 seconds and then 1 minute. No go. The power cord light (the end that connects to the computer- orange) is still turning on then off, cycling? The Apple icon comes on every 5 secs for 1 second. Both light and icon seem to be connected timewise. Sometimes there’s a glimpse of the white upload bar, and sometimes when I’m holding down the power key, I can briefly catch the small-text phrase: “Continue holding for startup options…. “

And after an hour plugged in… still no power, still see apple icon flashing.

Plugged computer power cord directly into wall outlet. No go.

Just started seeing an icon of an exclamation point in a circle, but only occasionally.

well THAT was a long explanation!

I’ll try your recommendations now.

thank you
