Optimized Battery Charging not kicking in/not working(?)

Hello everyone,

I see there are a lot of topics around this feature in this forum and other communities such as Reddit.

Every now and then, someone shows up with a different solution, and that's what I'm hoping for by creating this topic. lol

My M1 Pro is plugged in 24/7, and I can't get the optimized battery charge to work.

Facts:

  • I've tried turning it On/Off
  • Setting up a plug/unplug schedule
  • Keep it plugged in all the time
  • I'm aware that batteries are consumables, but if this feature exists, why not make it work?
  • I'm also not interested in using third-party apps such as Al Dente.

Thank you in advance for taking your time!

old issue, new issue, what changed?

Not working how(?) you say nothing of what the issue is here....

You do not have to micro-manage the battery charging. let the software work for you.

The rule of thumb—if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on the battery only—this is how you optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery by reducing the cycle count.
