How to Transfer Text Messages from iPhone to Computer?

I am trying to transfer text messages from iPhone to computer, but I am not sure how to do it. I have important messages from family, friends, and work that I don't want to lose, and I need to have them stored safely on my computer. I have tried syncing my iPhone with iTunes, but it only seems to transfer my contacts and photos. I have also tried using iCloud, but it doesn't seem to have an option to transfer text messages.

I have heard of some third-party software that can do it, but I don't know if they are safe to use. Can anyone help me with a safe and reliable way to transfe text messages from iPhone to computer?

6. Scroll down to the "Backup" section and click on "Back Up Now" to create a backup of your iPhone on your computer.
7. Wait for the backup process to complete. The time taken depends on the amount of data on your iPhone.
8. Once the backup is finished, you can disconnect your iPhone from the computer.
9. On your computer, open a web browser and go to the website of the software you want to use to extract the text messages.
10. Download and install the software on your computer, following the instructions provided.
11. Launch the software and connect your iPhone to the computer again using the USB cable.
12. Follow the software's instructions to access and export your text messages to your computer. The steps may vary depending on the software you are using.
13. Choose the desired format (such as PDF, CSV, or TXT) for the exported text messages and select the destination folder on your computer to save them.
14. Wait for the export process to complete, and then safely disconnect your iPhone from the computer.
15. You can now access the exported text messages on your computer in the chosen format and location.

If you need transfer a lot of text messages, using third-party software is the best option, this one is recommended:

Whether you're going from iPhone to computer or iPhone to Mac, you are able to do that.In the whole work, it can ensure the security of data, and there will be no data loss or malicious access to other devices, and it often has a user-friendly interface, which simplifies and speeds up the backup process. And you can save time as you can transfer multiple messages at once, which might otherwise be a time-consuming process when doing it manually.

I followed the recommended link above to iPhoneTransfer, and when downloading it got an alert from Avast that it contained malware, FileRepPup [PUP]. Thing is, I previously tried AnyTrans and got a similar alert for a different PUP (which is why I looked further and ended up here). What's up? I don't find anything online saying 'all 3rd party iPhone backup apps contain PUP, don't worry', which is odd if this happens to everyone.
