MacBook boot loop

My MacBook Pro had a blank screen when I tried to turn it in which obviously didn’t allow me to use it. I tried restarting it several times to no avail. Now it has started turning it self off and on over and over again. It does the boot up sound shows me the blank screen (but still on) and then switches off and repeats. If I hold the power button off I can get it to stop but whenever I try to switch it on the cycle continues again.
