watchOS 10.1 : Heart rate complication invisible

Hello everyone,

I just updated my Apple Watch to watchOS 10.1. The heart rate complication is now invisible. I can tap where it used to be and it does open the Heart Rate app. So, it's there but just invisible.

I tested other watch faces to confirm the issue and all the faces I tried also do not display the complication any longer.

A forced restart did not fix the issue.

Any suggestions?

I lost visibility to ECG and Blood Oxygen; the Heart Rate is still visible. All 3 functions are working if you touch those 2 spots, the icons just don’t show up on the watch face. I’m updating my Watch software to 10.1.1 right now, I hope Apple has fixed this issue in this update.

Just finished software update to 10.1.1 and it fixed the issue.

This issue has been reported to Apple Support.

The Heart Rate complication does not display data when used some watch faces when the complication occupies a full width position like at the bottom of the face "Activity Digital". The smaller Heart Rate complications can be used in the other positions. It only shows a heart logo, tapping on it, connects to the full heart rate data.

Workaround: The Heart Rate complication works for me in the bottom of the “Modular Compact" face.

I have had the same problem and frustration as everyone else. I contacted Apple support last night spent an hour and a half on the phone with them as they told me I would need to reset the Watch previous to the 10.1 update. We did that and it did not go back to 10.0 and stayed at 10.1 the 10.1 update has caused all these problems. Someone made mention in another comment in the same thread that the Heart Analyzer application works for them. I downloaded the Heart Analyzer app use the Watch app on the phone to add it to the Watch and put it on my Watch face and it works just like the previous one that is now invisible so I can look at my watch, and it tells me how many beats per minute I had the last time the Watch checked my heart rate , so that’s a workaround that seems to be working fine for me right now. The Heart Analyzer app when you look at it on the phone has taken over all the data from the Apple Watch app and has much more data interpretation than what the Apple application did so far that Heart Analyzer app is doing a much better job .

Thanks a lot, Hugo901!

Going one step further: Now, when you go back to your previously used complication (mine is Motion), the heart rate information is suddendly populating at the bottom of screen. Odd, but works (for me)! 😍

Hope this helps someone else, too... 😊

I don't think these complications will work until they push another update. Please don't waste your time with Apple support, I was online for two hours but they only did what I could have done it if I knew what they were going to do. Just reset, restore, and ask you to do more stupid things. When I called back and complained about wasting my time, one senior support staff said, they were aware of the issue and they will push a fix as soon as possible, so sit tight. nothing will fix this issue until they update the OS.

I have IPhone 13XPro Max and my Watch is a Watch Se First Gen I was having the same problem when they updated so what you want to try is unpair your watch from your phone then repair your watch back to your phone after that depending on how many apps you will need to wait until they all load then choose your face in the watch app if that doesn’t work after you set that way hold your watch screen choose edit then hit the bottom where you want heart rate then click your crown to set if that doesn’t work choose message for the bottom and set then repeat to select heart rate and it should stay I hope 🤞🏼 this helps cause it worked for me and it was with Apple Tech Support

Guys, I spent 2 hours with three different levels of apple technicians. Yes, I unpaired and repaired and much more. Even setup my watch as a brand new watch without using any backup but problem still there. You cannot resolve this until you can remove the last OS update, according to apple, there is no way to do this. So there is no solution in sight until there is an update. It looks like apple doesn’t give a $@$@$.

Same here. It does show on the new widgets. Oddly, it does show up when you go to edit the complications.

As a workaround, you can drag the cardio widget to the top of the widgets. It will pop up with the new double tap. Nevertheless, extremely disappointing that Apple and all the beta users could have missed such an obvious bug on a very common widget!!!!
