We reset my sons phone he locked out, when I’m asked “which child will use this iPhone” I click on his profile and it is highlighted with a blue ring around his picture but when I click continue, it doesn’t take, any ideas?

Try and force restart the iPhone to see if the issue persists
Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.
